Why do young college women say there’s no men to date?

Article saying if you are ready for a serious relationship, you are probably a woman.

Article: Our “young men problem” is rooted in a range of factors — the rise of electronic opiates, which distract young men from education and work and have come to replace traditional avenues of social relations; the absence of models of pro-social masculinity that furnish norms for male engagement in school, work and relationships as they move into adulthood; a culture that discounts commitment; and biological differences in rates of male and female maturation.

My thoughts: “The young men problem”, or more aptly, the “men problem” is rooted in a range of factors - girls lose their virginity at 14 to the genetically blessed men and continue to reward genetically blessed men with sex in their most fertile sexy years, the politicians create laws that favour women, children and animals over men, and all types of media, from tv to music to movies, idolize and pedestalize young fertile women at all costs.

Thoughts?

As you say, phucked out at an early age. There's also unprecedented (for modern America) insecurity about the future involved I would think.

In college, the guys who take academics at least somewhat seriously and graduate in 4 years with decent GPAs are essentially ignored on campus. College women are too busy chasing the top tier men who give them vaginal tingles to notice these decent men who would make good LTR prospects.

Completely right. There’s enough nerdy Asians studying computers for the girls to be fed gourmet style the rest of their lives. But what girl wants them? They’re socially awkward, obsessed with anime, and are scrawny or fat. Bad looking. I’m sure they’re ready to “commit” — they’d fall head over heels if any girl so much as touched them — but no one wants them.

So no this is not a fault of “men”. The college guys women want have options, and will use their options. Why would you not? It’s the smart move to make and it’s fun. I’m a college male and I’m doing it right now.

It means there are no men they are interested in dating available. They all have 5 or 6 other women. Plenty of losers they have no interest in at all hitting them up thirstily tho.

A college educated woman earning a high income would only want to date a college educated man making a high income.

A college educated high income man would happily date a hot hooters waitress.

There's a lot more hot waitresses than rich dudes with masters degrees.

Those nerdy asians will go on to have careers if they properly apply themselves. If you are a student you should be making the most of it in regards to your studies, girls should be an afterthought.

It's not just computer science and other STEM major guys who are ignored by the girls in college.

When I was on campus, I saw plenty of men in non-technical business and social science majors getting ignored by women. The business/social science major guys who were getting ignored were not necessarily socially awkward like STEM major guys. They were fairly ordinary guys. They were not overly muscular guys in the gym and they were not big time fraternity guys or party animals. They often weren't tops in academics either, but they'd typically have GPA's in the 2.8-3.5 range. These guys were mostly invisible to women.

This forum has a good thread on male sex lives at colleges. Although it tends to focus on the mating environment at larger public universities in the USA, it has applicability across all types of 4 year colleges/universities.

Most college men either end up getting a relationship as a ticket to sex in college.

The people who played the mating game best in college fell into 2-3 groups, all involving LTRs
  • Greek Life people who found other Greek Life people for extended relationships
  • Non-Greek Life people (mainly) who focused on activities and met someone for an extended relationship through some extracurricular activity or in one of their classes. This is more common way of forming LTRs in college.
  • Greek or Non-Greek people who met someone in classes, activities, or some other method and had an LTR with them.
I didn't hear of one case of a random, outdoor on campus approach leading to multiple dates or a relationship. There might have been an approach or two in my university's student union that lead to something longer term, but I wasn't aware of it or simply don't recall it now.

Lol, this is funny and sad at the same time. There are plenty of men to date, they are just looking for the top 5% to blow their backs out. They don’t care for guys like in the cartoon that are actually there to learn and prepare for the future. This comes later when they are 35 and worn out.

While you cannot possibly generalize, it is because often what some women say it's irrelevant. What they do and say rarely align. I mean look at @MatureDJ cartoon thingy, it's pretty accurate in most cases.

When they say "date" it can mean so many things depending on their specific needs at that specific time. The trick is you really don't know at what given time they are seeking a "beta buck" or an "alpha f**k".

On the other hand, the cartoon uses nerds for reference. Let's get real, those guys probably are not thinking about women but rather their grades and D&D. Most guys, just look at this forum, are focused on spreading as many seeds as possible and bragging about it to their mates and the online world to inflate their ego and elevate their status.

Now regarding the actual article, while I did not read it cause I've heard the narrative a million times it comes down to priorities. Women are prioritizing certain things and likewise, men prioritize certain things. This is dictated by society and its many constructs. This effectively creates a significant gap between the two genders going in separate directions. So it is not that there are no men to date, keeping in mind what they say often does not align with their actions, it's just that there is a disconnect between what each gender wants.

Imagine, just fvcking imagine for a moment a guy like that with his financial future in check, swallows the red pill and starts working in becoming a Chad lite? I mean Looks, Money & Game, right?
No man you’re completely right. Usually the frat guys and other high status college men are in the business school. Main problem with engineering is there’s a serious lack of girls, especially f*ckable girls. I know because I’m engineering too.

Money matters later down in the line. In college, girls really couldn’t give a ****. Main things are game, looks, status (frats), age (equal or older), and honestly race. Lots of international students only date within their own race. It’s important to note that none of this matters if you don’t have the balls to approach. I’ve met many muscular guys who struggle heavily with girls, just because they can’t get the balls to make moves.

I disagree to some extent. There are some college females that are sugar babies. I see your point because that was my experience when I was in college.

First two sentences are true. Some muscular guys get enough IOIs that approaching becomes easier. However, Millennial and Gen Z have gotten worse at using body language IOIs to signal. I noticed this as far back as the early 2010s.

Business and social science majors do get more frat type guys and guys who would be called "Chad" and "Chad Light". However, there are plenty of business major guys who are invisible to women while in college and later on in the workforce. This is also true with a lot of social science type guys too.

I also think it is accurate.

I've actually seen and heard of this many times.

I had a relative that worked as a nurse at a local hospital that I was living near about a decade ago. I remember hearing these stories about how these young nurses were lamenting about how they were single, etc. Anyway, I ended up hearing that they would say how there were "no good men to date" and stuff like that. Then as these stories would get deeper they would say how there were "no men with any brains" that were available to date. This is in a major metro in the northeast, though this hospital was in the suburbs. Are you telling me that in a major metro like that there are literally no men that met the qualifications of what these women were looking for? There were no men that were decent? No men that "had brains'? What would make them differentiate a man that "had brains" from one that did not? This is an interesting thought to consider.

Different metro

About 5 years ago I took this girl out on a date that I met when I was out on a Saturday night with some friends, we went to go mini golfing. Anyway, at one point when I was there she made some comment about how it was hard to find a good man in this given metro, to which I didn't really respond to. Anyway, our date ended and I never heard from her after that lol. So, is this woman saying that there are no good men to date and that I'm also not a good man lol?

Side note- I've seen that many women who have college degrees that will refuse to date men that do not have one. The thing is, men don't need a degree to do really well in life, in fact in today's world a degree often means very little except for having a lot of debt. Electricians, plumbers and even truck drivers can make really good money. The crazy thing is that most women would probably look down on men in these professions lol. Women with patterns of thoughts, as I've mentioned in my entire post here, have something seriously wrong with them and should be avoided by men.

These stories from young nurses were ridiculous. A lot of men want to date nurses due to the fact that it is a historically feminine career choice and many men think nurses will have strong senses of femininity. Although nurses are not as good of a dating option as they once were, they are often a better choice than careerist business managers, lawyers, or doctors.

Yes, she did not perceive you as a good man despite your height and physique. Did you offer a 2nd date and she didn't reply to a 2nd date offer text?

There are some metro areas that are lousy for dating for a number of reasons.

Side note- I've seen that many women who have college degrees that will refuse to date men that do not have one. It's nuts when women with bachelor's degrees or higher refuse to date men without a bachelor's degree. Also, a lot of women with advanced level degrees even look down on men with bachelor's degrees.

You're correct that skilled tradesmen like plumbers and HVAC repair men do well. Those are good dating options for any woman.

Even though I have an advanced degree, I don't mind women with less than a bachelor's degree. There are some good women who are medical assistants, dental hygienists, and paralegals. None of those jobs requires a bachelor's degree as all are trade school certifications. I will say that dating women with less than a bachelor's degree can be tricky. A lot of issues come up and they are more likely to be single moms earlier in life. Women with advanced degrees are often bad dating choices, as they are often either ridiculously demanding or they are too career focused to be a good girlfriend. It's like they are already married to their jobs.

Honestly, from what I've seen and heard women in the nursing professions give off a sense of entitlement and act like their job is so underappreciated. They complain about being overworked and about how difficult their career is, kind of reminds me of those who are teachers lol. There is a guy that I know from the gym who is a male nurse and he has told me about this as well, which just adds to this lol.

So, I had tried reaching out to that woman to get a 2nd date, got some short replies at first that lead to nothing and then I was ghosted. I didn't give up after a failed first attempt and honestly tried a couple more times before moving on.

I don't think a woman having less than a bachelor's degree makes her a bad choice. I think the reasoning behind what you are seeing though is that women who are career/education focused honestly put off dating and relationships for quite a long time, which naturally delays pregnancy, marriage, etc. Those women who are not in this frame of existence are often not in this boat. The crazy thing is that these careerist women will look down on women who decide not to do this, yet they are the women that will be single, childless and miserable lol.

Sometimes I wonder if that statement is a hint. Did you ask her for a 2nd date and she responded that she was "busy", or did you just blow her off?
