How long have you been a musician before this incident? and how old are you?
I understand your position and the reasons why you blocked them which is fine and something you can’t go back on because you’ve done it already the problem is that if you tell them that “your door is still open” than that is an inherent contradiction in what your
thinking and
saying and what your actually
doing because in reality you don’t ever want to contact them in real life. So if you explain to them why you deleted them off your social media they might not see it that way so it’s better to not even bring that up because it also makes you look really petty. You’ve already made a decision to never talk to them again but you don’t need to let them know that hence why I told you to leave on good terms.
I’ve been a musician since I was 5 years old. I’m 25 now. However, my degree is in STEM. I’m a Computer Science Major, and I am now a programmer.
Yeah, to undo that I would have to cancel the block and then re-send them a friend request.
Ok, that all makes sense. Thanks for elaborating on that. I decided to unblock their phone numbers though, because that’s a bit too far. And of course if I see them in public, I’ll speak.
So you wouldn’t explicitly bring up the fact that I don’t want to do shows with them anymore as well, correct?
I’ll do your plan. Thanks for helping me hash this out. I appreciate it.
I’ll be completely honest, I’ve been really depressed these past couple of days. I don’t have the motivation to eat right, go to the gym, or even get out of bed lately.
Logically, I know I can’t stay like that. So, I guess the only thing that I can do is totally forget about it, and progress towards my other goals yeah? Totally move on, get over it, and get back to self improving.
As for my music, I think I’ll get back into private lessons like I did in college. I am absolutely going to keep the skill. And maybe I’ll look into playing for an orchestra in the future or something.
I need to keep advancing my programming career as well, though. Because that’s the “right” thing to do.
