These are just totalitarian regimes deciding that it's better to be friends with other totalitarian regimes. Russia is basically a member of OPEC (they only deal bilaterally with Saudi Arabia), so it makes sense for the Saudis to cling to Russia, which has plunged down to totalitarianism. China is the factory to the world (although they can only produce lower-level stuff, or assemble such lower-level with higher-level components), and of course, they are totalitarian.

Totalitarian regimes can make stuff, but they can't make refined stuff; this is because there needs to be a free culture for true innovation to blossom. The vaunted Russian military has been shown to be a relic that can only engage in indiscriminate war-crime attacks on civilians; it's going to be a big North Korea soon (the payback for the brave men who GeoMax there could be profound).

Shale gaz destroyed the USA mid-east politics , Saudi arabia is weaken , this could overall be a bluff...
