HR is there to serve the interests of the business, they interface with potential of lawsuits before ethics which is why this is such a bad idea.

Many, many women have tales of telling HR story about a higher up or executive, HR is on his side, again, business before ethics.

If you two are equals you WILL be railroaded at even the sheer mention of this behavior, to protect the investors, not her, lol....

In Human Resources, gossip is more reality than not

If HR thinks you are going to cost them money from a lawsuit it doesn't matter how good of an employee you are, they will kick you to the curb faster than you can blink

The problem with texting like this is that it never gets deleted

conversations can be forgotten with time so can memories but texts can remain for the rest of eternity

Generally if I'm not 100% sure a girl is into me i won't risk sending anything that may bite me on the A$$ later down the line because you can guarantee it will , even more so in your case because work is involved

I don't think you have said anything particularly offensive or misconstrued other than that part about some random woman asking to come home with you that was bit odd

Anyway in this situation you just lay low , and if anyone asks about it which i doubt they will

play it down

We celebrated at work yesterday, drank some champagne and stuff. Both me and this chick I've been working with for 5 years have been busting each other's nuts, kind of in a flirty way. I went and had some more to drink after work and started chatting a bit with her. Said something like "I owed you a coffee, how about a drink?" She didn't make a clear response, so I took it as a "no".

I consider her attractive and I'm feeling ready to get back into dating after a few months break, and she works on the other shift, so I see her at work 2-3 days/year. But this was probably a crappy idea. How do I fix this drunken mistake I've done?

You don't. You act as if nothing ever happened. Truth is, things we do while drunk, as almost as they were not meant to be done anyway so we move on.

Most likely she's just deliberately wasting your time and you're giving her the room to do so by not being clear.

You should put her in the position where her only options are to put up or shut up.

This. HR is not interested in your well being or even the well being of the people who bring them complaints. They are simply an ACO (azz covering organization) for the company you work for. They exist to protect the company from any and all potential lawsuits or bad stuff.

This is also why I never trust HR when they let you know you can bring any complaints to them, etc...

Basically they do that so they can figure out who is going to be a problem prior to them being a problem and get rid of them.

Especially if you're a low level employee. I would think an vice president and such would be a bit more protected due to being harder to replace.

I have a part time job at a large grocery store chain here in FL. Our last meat manager was an obese 60 year old married guy. dude had serious game though and would flirt. Anyway, he was taking pics on his phone of some of the girls in the deli of their arse and that without them knowing. Somehow someone told on him and he ended up just getting suspended for a week. The girls also got a lawyer and ended up settling with the grocery store. I wish it were that easy for us guys to make money for someone taking pics on their phone while we work.

He never got fired for the sexual harassment despite costing them money and for having complaints in the past against him. If he were a cashier he'd be canned fast.

Exactly! Never worth going to HR unless a last resort, even then probably better leaving the firm before things get awkward, unless you know odds are massively stacked in your favour somehow.
