he movie is ridiculous, like in an era of Time Travel, Alternate Time Lines and now outright Magical Wishes, who the hell needs even a decent writer?

They could of done ANYTHING with the wishes concept, yet this is what they choose to do? Turn Kirsten Wig into a cat lady? Really?
Yeah this is exactly what I thought. I thought it was more of a mix of mystical fantasy type movie and not a straight up super hero action movie like it should've been. It's clear this movie was targeted to women and single mom's that have the moon and astrology apps on their phones. "My mommy told me I shouldn't ride my bike far today because something may happen due to the full moon today..." LOL

I really don't like the direction that most of these super hero movies are heading in.

The Never Ending Story and Ghostbusters are all 1984 movies I watched as a kid and even if it took that approach it still conjures up that kid feeling when I remember those movies.

Another aspect of WW84 is that it's a Cirque du Soleil show. The first 20 minutes is an intense CGI Cirque du Soleil, and the fight between Wonder Woman and Cheeta was Cirque du Soleil. There was good acrobatics with the power-lines. Has anyone been to a Cirque Du Soleil?

My issue beside the circus show is how they are using it to send a message where they want to have their cake and eat it too.

On one hand, women want to be better than men and do the same masculine things men do.

On the other hand, feminist women believe that everyone is a winner and that everyone should get awards. If you know any feminist single mothers, they all have this mentality. Competition breeds better people and advancement. This can't happen if every kid wins and thus quits trying hard. This intro goes against that paradigm and is effectively showing clear winners. So in this regard, this logic is flawed a bit.

Another example of feminists using the narrative to what suits them best.

Yes, points against feminism are taken. We also have to remember that this is a TANKING movie. The current RT score is 60%. The IMDB score is 5.5 and its a divisive movie. It has turned off allot of people who are Wonder Woman fans and negative comments written on some reviews is extremely harsh. Its one point away from being a rotten tomato.

Now, dealing with feminism, the movie itself actually portrays women very weakly. Take the Wonder Woman's obsession over her ex-bf on that level that she'd accept his essence on another male's body, and even invade an innocent guys' apartment and rape him, and lose all of her powers and not until the world is about to explode badly she finally decides to renounce her wish? Tell me how does that portray a strong woman? That is a joke. This is not feminism. It is the opposite. You can't ignore stuff like that.

Or how about Cheetah. Is she portraying a strong woman or a spoiled woman that lost all her humanity? Is this not what people here are complaining about modern woman who are getting validation from simps and going after Chads that they are shallow, soulless and lost their humanity the same change of character you saw with Cheetah?

For a movie about feminism they chose women of very weak character that would be a joke for a strong woman. The world almost exploded because of Wonder Woman's insane attachment to her boyfriend. If they portrayed men badly in the movie, they portrayed women worst.

Going back to the low score, I've heard theories out there that this movie alienates and throws off EVERYONE no matter what you believe. If you are a feminist, this movie is insulting because of these weak female character leads. If you are anti-feminist, as we are, then this movie throws you off too.

If you are worried about participation award movies, then isn't the Incredibles franchise directed for children WORST than this is? I'd be more worried about children's movies than adult movies that are being panned harshly by critics.

I think a part of the movie’s riots in The White House theme came true by what happened last night. Wow, it’s part of Hollywood’s predictive themes/plots that happens in real life.

Like I said, there’s a lot of symbolisms in that movie that Hollywood might be hinting about the future. Just gotta spot em.

The TV-series Handmaid's Tale has an episode where there is a coup in the USA from the Sons of Jacob and laws are changed relegating women to subservient roles in society like it is in Saudi Arabia today.

I'm sure there's some girl power messages in there somewhere, but I don't see this as a big feminist movie. Wonder Woman is a superhero Amazon, she's far from being a typical female. Chris Pine is very much a sidekick, but he doesn't have her powers. Considering that, he gets on pretty well. He realizes his existence needs to end, and in that respect she's much more clingy than he is.

The rape comments are interesting, that hadn't really occurred to me. I did think it was pretty unfair that the guy was booted out of his body, but really this isn't the kind of movie I'm going to take all that seriously. It has its flaws for sure, but I still enjoyed it. Especially since this past year movies have been pretty scarce.

I wanted to see a new movie badly.
So I went to see Prom ising Youn g Woma n.
Whoa. Best portrayal of a sociopathic, traumatised woman I've ever seen in acting. Prrrobableee...... going to be labelled a fem*t movie.

Definitely should be labelled a straightup horror movie.

What girl power messages are there? All you did was put a woman with powers that made her physically strong to overpower some men. Of course, there are always going to be women who know martial arts, are amazon weight-lifters and can probably beat a weaker framed guy up or even average guy. If that is girl power then it is nothing new. Women go to gyms too. Its not about a woman can do what a man can do too. It's more like, if a woman is a super-hero then make sure she doesn't crush over her ex or we are all doomed or close to it!

The fate of the world really hanged on the balance of Chris Pine, not Wonder Woman. If he didn't convince her to let him go forcefully enough, the world may have been destroyed.

Again a silly movie, suppose Chris Pine went into the body of a severely overweight and ugly guy.

It is a major point that is now established among movie critics. Its hard to see this on the first watch since there is allot going on in the movie, and on first-watch, you'll think something is wrong with the mirror, or just miss that. It took a second viewing along with a in sych youtube watch-a-long party for that aspect to click clearly.

As far as a movie, I agree, I enjoyed this movie when I opened it on New Years eve. It did give a feeling of hope and optimism and escape and fake New Year Eve fireworks experience within the movie with that airplane scene. It was a great movie for New Years eve. I wouldn't want to watch it again now or anytime soon.

There have been many types of movies released this year. You have to look at youtube channels like watchmojo or beyondthetrailer (as are others on top of that) to stay attune to under the radar movie gems. I have a whole list of movies that are supposed to be great for 2020 but haven't watched yet. I still haven't seen Netflix's Extraction 2020 or Old Guard 2020, but they were popular movies with A-list actor(s) released this year.
