Haha...you got a ways to go B...I got up to 505 at my peak a few years ago...now I have dialed it back quite a bit with the heavy weights on everything...really started to take a heavy toll on my joints
I'll get there one day for sure. I'm gonna be bodybuilder big in the future anyways.

Could you deadlift 600 around that time too?

I remember Pook said he could squat 500 pounds as well. That's life goals for sure

Obviously, the culinary arts certificate wasn't mine.

However, not to over-personalize this...let's just say I knew a man who was an expert is just about everything...not everything, but a true Renaissance man...it was a challenge to find something he wasn't good at. His wife was no slouch, either; she was beautiful and brilliant, with a fair set of technical abilities of her own, but she was a terrible cook...Lisa Douglas('Green Acres') bad. He was an excellent cook, though. Why wouldn't he be? He was good at everything else.

The problem that I noticed, though, which he didn't notice, is that his wife never learned to cook, because she genuinely believed she could never be as good as he was. Of course, her children wouldn't have cared that their father was a better cook than their mother(why wouldn't he be? he was better at everything than everybody else), as long as their mother was a decent cook, because(good or bad) she did most of the cooking.

Anyway, I learned from observation to stay out of the kitchen, and to feign ignorance, unless I wanted to eat a lot of takeout, or do all the cooking. Oh, and complimenting each effort like it was the best meal I ever ate accomplished a lot of encouragement.

Did you encourage her or correct her, and show her how it was supposed to be done?
I am no Emeril Lagasse, but I can handle my own. I would encourage, and we'd try to cook together. It was a fruitless endevour.

well, your posted recipe here encouraged some of us, anyways, that personality trait of yours shouldn't be smothered b/c of one obstinate human in your past.

Not quite...I got up to 565 for 2 reps but I popped my back on the second rep so I never tried anything that heavy again after that...

I wouldn't encourage any man to stifle his talents or passions. I was merely pointing out, in a more general sense, that a man who knows his way too well around the kitchen can be as stifling to a budding female cook, as a woman who can rebuild an engine can be to a man who can barely change the brakes. Just an observation.
hmm, yes, you are right. Nice comparison.
I took your post up there to be positive actually. I think I even saved it as a good idea(to apply to other scenarios)

I thought you were illustrating using the Tom Sawyer trick. Or that's what my Dad called it.

When you really don't want to paint the fence pickets, you hand the brush to your buddy and ask them if they can paint better then compliment them so they keep painting while you don't have to, lol

Was that in the story of Tom Sawyer? I haven't read it yet.

So here recently the “scruff” has been coming in quicker than normal. I’m usually a clean shave kind of guy. Trying to decide if I should shave this or see what it’ll do. It’s been awhile since I’ve let my facial hair grow out.

That's pretty much it, but, if I recall correctly, Tom Sawyer was trying to persuade his friends how much fun painting the fence was, so that his friends would happily take over the task. That's a slightly different strategy, and as amusing as it is, probably far less effective.
hmmm.

making me rethink that. I don't have that technique yet, then. Maybe there's some techniques really just better suited for men to use.
I love thinking about this stuff.

Only suggesting that a little selective feigned helplessness, and standing aside can(in many cases, not all) go some distance towards sparking that passion in someone to whom one might wish to pass the touch.

Personally, I don't even know how to turn on the stove I bought my wife. I'm sure I could figure it out, but she's very territorial, and I like her cooking; so, I don't even touch it.
Shepays, thank you for replying, I'm getting some help on something bigger here. Completing continuing to derail Cola's post, sorry man,

So, how would I tread that thin line between starting to feign helplessness and appearing manipulative?
Feigning and manipulation seem dishonest to me but I"ll do it to gain a greater good.(solipsistically: my own happiness as the greater good, I mean and admit)

Example: Finding a mate with similar values that would encourage me to leave the workforce(I'd responsibly pay off debt myself and set up a passive yearly income for myself first)

Someone who wouldn't shame me for not working anymore.
You know what I mean; the career woman, you-go-girl mindset that surprisingly a lot of men have encouraged me in.(coworkers and family, anyways)

I have faced this too.
"Oh Lynx, you've got this and that qualification, you spent this much time in apprenticeships and that much time in college, don't you want to make more money?" Or "Lynx, I never saw myself as just settling in a one income household with a woman" (that one was said as recently as 5 months ago to me)

I have more interrelationship skills to build. Thanks for your time.

Let us know how it turns out!

What's stsrter?
Exposing your dough to wild indigenous yeasts that are in your bioregion. Sometimes elusive and other times takes on the quality of ‘terroir’ similar to unique combinations of wine soils and climate.

There are no indigenous yeasts in Bridgeport, CT dude. Maybe in Asia, Central / South America and Africa, but in North America, don't think so. Maybe if we had some Native American Indian's, then that might something. However, their lands are a couple hours away from here. I do not think they live off the land anymore... They seem to live very well off of the casinos.

You are mis-informed. Yeasts are in the air we breath anywhere on the planet.

Respectfully, I think you're out there, like Pluto, if you think you can catch yeast from the air and use it for making bread.
You have no idea what you are talking about. You could educate yourself with sourdough enthusiasts put since you seem to know everything, probably won’t happen.

Yes, I will agree. I am not part of the sourdough supreme alliance. I wish I did. Please, enlighten us.

I only really know about medical issues, dating, ladies, bonds and markets. The stuff I do not know, I do not comment on.

Flour, water, salt

that’s it.

Fermenting flour/water. Where it ferments, what other plants that are around, the temperature and humidity are what enthusiasts like to tweak.

Most of my fermenting is with sauerkraut and kombucha’s. I’m experimenting paleo/keto with my diet so not big on bread atm. Vegan cheeses though are something of interest.

The other fungi that I’m focusing on are immunity boosting anti-viral/bacterial mushrooms.

Here’s a simple breakdown. This is an example of old skill knowledge, learning things from scratch.
Basic Principles are the building blocks.

Thank you for sharing. I will attempt to try this recipe.

@cola LOL did you ever expect your thread to turn into a cookbook?
What's wrong, you don't like to cook healthy meals? It's good for you.
