Come on seriously there are plenty of approaches social tricks and psychology that work. Read one decent science backed book and there are dozens and apply three or four of them and you will get laid God knows I did often.

PUA is good to the extent it develops your basic social competence. The problem with it was that it taught the same thing as the original blue pill does: that looks are not the primary medium of attraction. In this regard it was actually worse than the blue pill. The blue pill doesn't teach you to think you can or should try to completely control everything, hence the saying "just be yourself" - but in the PUA world, you were framed as the only player-controlled character in reality. Women were like NPCs and everything was up to what you did or thought "wrong" to manipulate them.

Some of the material was focused on letting go of your inhibitions rather than inhibiting yourself with a new fake personality, but I'm not sure I would really classify that as PUA.

A lot of the techniques work very well, but they only work on the initial attraction. For someone who has no desire to be in a relationship, it's perfect. For someone who wants a relationship, it's still useful to initially get the woman, but the guy's core personality will eventually come through and will ultimately cause her interest to plummet. A man needs his personality to align with how he portrays himself.
