I've been reflecting upon this lately and it seems that many young women today, I'm talking those in their 20s and late teens, just seem to have a serious lack of common sense and basic social intelligence.
About a week ago I got this number from a girl during my delivery gig I have on the weekends. She was in a relationship but would text back and forth with me. I ended up delivering to her a second time and before hand she said that if I did for me not to say anything to her boyfriend. Anyway, I realize that her texting with me really was simply one of a friendly nature, with no real intention of having it go anywhere. However, what gets me is that this woman thinks it is ok to text another man, who specifically asked her out, whilst she is in a relationship. I gave some thought to what I was doing and realized that I was essentially letting this girl think that behaving like this is normal/acceptable, so I did the right thing and deleted the number from my contacts list.
Another instance that stands out to me was from last fall, where I had approached a woman at my gym, which resulted in her telling me she had a boyfriend. However, after this she would insist on approaching me and encouraging me to talk to her, again it is coming from one of a friendly nature but it shows she is missing some social cues. Whether or not she had a boyfriend was irrelevant. If she had a boyfriend she shouldn't be continuing to go out of her way to engage with a man who has expressed interest in her. On the other hand, if she used this as a rejection to a man she has no interest in she should not be continuing to engage with him, as this would just be leading him on.
I used to think that a lot of these women did stuff like this just to mess with me but now I believe they just honestly lack the ability to understand the issues of their own behavior.
