We have in Fruitbat an exemplar of the hyper-Protestant mind. The individuated mind has freed itself from all religion, yet still feels the need to edify itself in its core fundamental beliefs. And so we get a militant atheism.

Who ever would have thought such a thing possible. Most irreligious people do their best to ignore religion, but the militant atheist, with all the crusading fervor of a believer, argues dogmatically through to his conclusions.

In the self-crowned sovereignty of his own consciousness, he pronounces to all what must be believed.:)
YEP.
Like most atheists, they gather tog like a congregation then follow an atheist idol (Hitchens) or BOOK then put christians down not even knowing the irony.

It's almost disturbing.

I've learned moat atheists are usualky personality prone to just like to argue

Ah, fvck off, what's the key thing about how this finished up?

NEITHER OF YOU HAD A WORD TO SAY ABOUT PROVING YOUR POINTS. You are going after the man, not the ball, because you have fvck all else in your locker and you know it. It's either an ad hom or an overly verbose diatribe from Mr Words to smokescreen the fact that you both took the fist set of ideas you came across and built your worldview around that.

I believed all the things you currently do WHEN I WAS 10 YEARS OLD. Sit their bytching if you want, I tried to be diplomatic but if all you have is "fruitbat is this, fruitbat is that" then you can sod off.

You are both the ones "prone to argue" because you can't answer the points, you sit their bytching about me because you know you're living in a fairy tale, and all the overly wordy repostes or pop psychology on planet earth is not going to change that.

Oh,and absolutely Protestant if I was to choose any. Catholicism is the utter pits of Christianity, the consistent fvcking of children and "paying off" of your sins for centuries tells you all you need to know about Catholicism.

Well, I only converted to Protestantism as an undergraduate student. A post-graduate degree in philosophy later, I converted to Catholicism.

Reason is a rather poor thing when stripped in quartered from the other transcendentals of unity, beauty and goodness. Knowledge is an illusion, it's only through art that we even begin to understand the nature of reality.

You seem to have an anger problem.

Flibadob glib glob gleep.

Utter babble.

I never had the chance to get paid education but I studied privately, in my own time. Quit the intellectual snobbery, strip the bullshyt away and you're dancing around campfire doing rain dances. I don't care about humanities degrees. It proves absolutely nothing, as does over-elaborate language which riddles for the sake of riddles. This is what makes me angry, yes, like many people, you think having degrees and schooling gives you a de facto superiority, like many leftists, you think education and long words win arguments, not content. It's the reason the west is in a complete state, as pragmatic and strong willed men are subverted by academic know-alls who never lived a day in their lives. Then, if you lived a real life, you get ad homs about it, as I have on this thread.

Unity, beauty and goodness are just human concepts, thought up in a human mind.

Sophistry in it's most overt form.

It's you choice - education or ignorance.
There we go.

I'm afraid to explain that education doesn't preclude you from ignorance. Depends on how you are educated.

It's not binary. Islamic scholars are just as educated as you.

Playing the tune doesn't make you the composer.

I'm not a Christian but there are a lot of good versus in the Bible. The OP's #2 is another good one I had not yet seen.

My daughter asked me how Jesus could be the son of God, how the sexual intercourse went down. I said "Jesus is not the son of God, Mary fvcked one or more of the wise men behind Joseph's back". My daughter said "yeah duhh that makes the most sense, i think I will go with that". Who really knows the true answer, I'm only going with what is the most logical to me. Women cheat now, they cheated back then, and they will continue to cheat until the end of Earth.
Yep, the whole thing was based on a ho lying to her man. The virgin birth gimmick is not even remotely believable.

What? The idea that God sent his only son to the middle east c2000 years ago, and that our salvation was based on the death of this carpenter is obviously robust, durrr!

I'm beginning to hate message boards nowadays. I got hoarded off one last week by a group of ****ing bullies and I come here and see this battle of the IQ scores...I'm getting a headache...what the **** is wrong with our world these days? Men can't even have a decent convo/debate without beating it into the ground...wow, just wow.Crap like that is why I'm rare here anymore. What happened to constructive convo on improving game/being men in a world made for women...

Dude, if it's over your head, it wasn't over mine - not being big headed but I understand the points. I can do this level of wordery, I don't, because it's unnecessary. Far better to talk in plain English. However, if you have a fairly shaky premise, the big guns get pulled out, to deflect from the weakness of the argument.

Looks like I need to give up religion. Same thing I ran into on the other board. I was also on the wrong side of the fence politically (that's what really did it)...
As I said there, there is "no religion". Right thing to say nowadays. When we die, they just put our preserved body (with, I'm assuming, a dead useless soul as well) into a 6' long box and make our family cry as they lower our carcass into the ground. Unless of course we took Viagra before we died, they might have to make our casket 8'.
I still want to hear an explanation for Karma from an Athiest.

Karma is translated as "action" and is mis-represented as a personal burden of ones actions. Karma is not a personal experience. Karma is best described as "what goes around, comes around" Your actions and the actions of others go around in a circle.

It is very difficult to retain buddhist concepts whilst believing in God. Don't conflate atheism with a complete non belief in spirituality or meaning.

Atheism is literally "Non-theism". It means one is not a theist, in as much as there is no belief in a religious doctrine or thought system which involves a deity

Buddhist/Hinduism/Taoism etc do not believe in a creator, or separate God. Their creation stories are, and always were, considered allegorical. Belief in a sky pixie who watches everything we do is not the only way one can explore meaning. It is not a choice of "rock and stone" atheism or "biblical standard" Christianity. Although many will accuse the non-religious of lacking the ability to see life as anything but meaningless.

As for the soul, the central view of Buddhism is that you don't need one. We are all little nerve endings in the universe. Our minds are the place that the universe experiences itself. You can only experience it from one viewpoint, hence the illusion of personal soveriegnty, So, when you die, you die, but you have always been alive, and always will be, as you are the same fundamental stuff as rocks, water, animals and people. Your ego, and your attachment to yourself, is what creates all the problems with this. If you can see this, death holds no fear, as you've always been alive, you are just a perspective.

Trying to define what "you" are is the start to enjoying this viewpoint, as one cannot be described without describing the rest of the universe. We are completely connected with everything and do not exist in isolation.

You need to either give up religion or Reason. Now it is relatively easy to undermine the dogmatic claims of Reason by identifying its limits. What is not so easy is to undermine are the dogmas of religion because it is something you either believe or disbelieve. Reason, rightly considered, can argue it equally both ways simply because it is indecisive. I think that in a sense we believe what we will... the Will is central, not Reason. And why one person believes and another doesn't is a mystery.... a believer is comfortable with mystery, whereas a non-believer is not.

I have a book about this sort of teaching, I do agree with the concepts. Bought it when I was deep into Martial Arts, I was into the spiritual side as well.
The book referred to it (the notion of God) as "The Universal". Sort of a different approach to the Force, on Star Wars. But not the same either, only in spirit. No magic lol.

After the experiences in my life, it is hard to give up Christianity. One might be better to find the books that were removed from the Bible over time to understand this. They are out there, just have to look.

The gnostics are closer to what I consider the "truth", not the guilt and shame based elements of post Roman Protestantism or Catholicism.

Orthodox christianity is the closest to the original and there is more "magic" in that than western brands.

10 If you can find a truly good wife, she is worth more than precious gems! 11 Her husband can trust her, and she will richly satisfy his needs. 12 She will not hinder him but help him all her life. 13 She finds wool and flax and busily spins it. 14 She buys imported foods brought by ship from distant ports. 15 She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plans the day’s work for her servant girls. 16 She goes out to inspect a field and buys it; with her own hands she plants a vineyard. 17 She is energetic, a hard worker, 18 and watches for bargains. She works far into the night!
This was good to do before social media.
You can have a woman like this, but nowadays, you've to take count of proverb n19:
She will cheat on you.
