When someone disrespects an Alpha he usually gets in their face and they usually back down.
.
Hmmm. No... not in my experience. The top 10% would never find themselves in a situation where they are staring down someone. Top tier people only focus on those things that have a direct benefit to them. A true top tier man would be SHOCKED to be disrespected and see it for what it is, posturing by some Beta trying to make points consider the source and just ignore.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen two dudes in a 'showdown' over a girl, and while they were focused on confronting each other, a true alpha just slid in a scooped up the girl they were fighting over.

One more thing.... if you let ANYONE that disrespects you get to you to the point where you are losing emotional control, then you are giving that person too much power over you. You are a weak man if you allow other people's so called opinion of you pull you around by the nose.

You are allowing your EGO to control you... go take some yoga practice and get yourself re-centered.

I didn't make that up. That is Alpha Male Behavior 101.

He doesn't get in their face if he is on a date (as the saying goes, when you lose control you lose), but if disrespected say on the Basketball court, the Alpha will be the one who dunks in their face. It usually doesn't happen because everyone intrinsically knows who is the Alpha. If there are two Alphas, they will come to blows to see who is truly strongest.

Are we confusing the smooth, small dude with the Alpha male? Remember, by definition, the Alpha is physically the strongest. This is not "Game of Thrones", "Caveman" stuff.

I'm not a pack animal. I wouldn't know.

I'm a hunter. I know the ways of the herd and exploit it.

Do we define Alpha as the physically strongest or the leader of the crowd? Or? What if the leader is not the physically strongest? What if the physically strongest is not a leader?

I understand the Alpha to be the leader, irrespective of his physical power, but more due to his shrewdness of understanding each of the crowd's needs and pulling the strings accordingly to acquire strict acquiescence or compliance.

I just read one of the articles on SoSuave on respect. The advice given there is in line with 90 % of the advice given in this thread: Withdraw your attention.
