Almost got into an accident on the highway today...

I was driving home from work when it happened. I'm in the passing lane, going over the speed limit, passing, and a guy in a minivan gets extremely close to the back of me. I'm talking a few feet, and this is when going 70-80 MPH. I hate when people do this, but didn't do anything rash. As the scumbag passes on the right I, deservedly, flip him off. He then proceeds to immediately cut in front of me and slam on his breaks--from 70MPH to 30-40MPH. Fortunately he was driving a large vehicle (which makes it break slightly more slowly), and luckily, I was able to break enough to not hit the POS. If you're wondering, no, I would NOT have swerved out of the way. If I couldn't avoid him, I would have hit him.

So this person (it's hard for me to call him a "person") not only dangerously tailgated me, but also put multiple lives in danger by deliberately slamming on his breaks in front of me in an attempt to either scare or harm me and/or get into a high-speed (possibly deadly) accident. Honestly, I wanted, and still want, to kill the guy, but looking back I'm SUPER glad I avoided it. If I saw him face-to-face out of his car I might have literally killed him. Wouldn't have been good...

If you're wondering, the coward "ran" after this. I sped up to 85-90MPH in an attempt to get his license plate number (not only so I could report him to the police, but also to try and find out who he is/where he lives so I could go and, at the very LEAST, flatten his tires and leave a threatening note), but he must have been maxing out the acceleration on his piece of sh!t minivan, because he pulled WAY ahead (while weaving in and out of traffic like a madman). A minute later he exited. I was thinking of chasing him, but decided not to because I didn't want to waste my time on something where (thankfully) nothing happened. Also, like I said above, someone might have been hurt.

Still pissed that I couldn't get the plate number of this sub-human garbage. No lie, if I could get a job ridding the world of people like this (terrorists, criminals, bully's, people with no regard to innocent life, etc.) I'd take it in a second

Sounds like I-10. Everybody has to deal with this kind of thing eventually. You just have to remind yourself that they might have a gun. You might have one, too, but what then? A shootout? Do you really want that?

1.) I'm not going to move into the right lane behind a car going 60 when I'm going 70, because it will slow me down significantly. If you want to go 80+ you can wait, which brings me to my next point...

2.) If someone wants to go 9358495793475945 MPH they can pass on the right, then move back to the left. If I'm being tailgated I, most of the time, DO NOT move over just because the person behind me is a POS. If they weren't driving like that I would move over. I also tend to slow down because I constantly look in my rear-view mirror when I'm being tailgated.

3.) If you do more then 20 over the speed limit you're a moron who's putting lives at risk and I'm doing you, and everyone else on the road, a favor by slowing you down. Same for people who tailgate just because they're too stupid to realize it's dangerous.

Your argument is very corrupt. What everyone, except you, is saying is that the left lane is meant to be used only to pass. Which is why they have "slow traffic keep right" signs on highways. If you are passing someone, from the left lane, that is going slower than you, do so quickly and move to the right lane. Just as you were angry at the person in the right lane was going the speed limit, the person behind you was just as angry that you are only going 5-10 MPH above the speed limit AND in the left lane. The fact that the person behind you is going faster does not make him a maniac. You should not have flipped the person because, to him you were going too slow and in the left lane.
