My girlfriend was selling pampered chef stuff for a fundraiser, and we ended up with one of their grill baskets:
http://www.pamperedchef.com/our_products/catalog/product.jsp?productId=18602&categoryCode=NEW

I've discovered that if you line the basket with foil, you can cook anything on a grill. Vegetables like corn on the cob or asparagus sauteed in oil and garlic are excellent. Sometimes I make boil-in-bag brown rice inside, then dump the cooked rice over the vegetables; it's like fried rice on the grill. Push it to the side until the meat is done, then throw the meat on top and carry it inside all at once. Then your entire dinner comes off the grill. If you're just cooking a few vegetables, the basket is much faster and easier than messing with skewers.

Seafood Pizza. I don't make my own pizza dough (at least not YET!) Anyway, get yourself a pizza crust. Instead of tomato sauce, use sour cream. Smear it all over the crust, toss some shrimp and that fake crab pollock stuff on it, green peppers, mushrooms, and whatever the hell else you think will taste good.

For cheese, I sprinkle a bit of Parmesan, then coat the bytch with mozzarella. Using a good pizza pan (not that fukkin cookie sheet crap) bake for ten minutes at 400. Probably the best damn pizza I've eaten, and it doesn't give me heartburn.

I tried something wild for my bachelor Thanksgiving. I cooked the turkey in a somewhat watered-down mandarin orange salad dressing. I also tossed a bit of brown sugar in to sweeten it a bit. It was the best tasting turkey I've ever eaten.

I've also used Penkitten's banana bread recipe and tossed some mini Reese Peanut Butter Cups in it.

Personally, I think the key to being a good cook is to be experimental.

I'm putting a sticky on this, hoping more of you will share some of your cooking tips.

(I'm gonna try those cream cheese stuffed hamburgers yet!)

Smoky chilli (using cheap meat simmered in beer to tenderize and break it up) and a hand tossed herb pizza with a fresh sauce. Everything made by hand from raw ingredients of course.

I'm also very good at grilling meats and making marinades. Right now I'm working on making an excellent steak. First few trials have been tasty but not close enough to what I would consider ideal. I like to bake at a low temperature, soak in butter and then simmer the steak for a short period at a high temp to get a nice tasty brown layer on each side.

I'm also pretty good at making delicious protein shakes since I like to use spices.

What do you throw in your marinades? I'm still trying to improve mine.

Vinegar, lime or lemon juice and herbs and salts. Sometimes a little worsterchire. Depends on what kind of meat you're working with and what the intended flavor should be.

Chicken is excellent for herbs because it has such a light flavor whereas something like steak you might want to be more conservative with the amount and variety of spices. Can't go wrong with garlic, salt and a little pepper.

edit: This is what I based my chilli recipe on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8OqxOKtLhM

I also use liquid smoke. Applewood or hickory are excellent. Also for garlic it's tastier fresh. Just clean some garlic and fry it in lots of oil slowly to soften the flavor and texture.

My family and friends always request I cook my spaghetti sauce for events.

1 LB of hamburg
1 package of pepperoni (for spicy try the tabasco pepperoni)
1 package (4 links) of hot sausage
4 cans of Hunts meat sauce
3 cans of roasted garlic tomato paste

Add the meat suace and tomato paste together on low heat.

Cook the hamburg and break it up, then add it to the sauce.
Cook the sausage and break it up, then add it to the sauce.
Add the pepperoni one slice at a time so that they do not clump together.

Mix the sauce on medium heat until the pepperoni has cooked and is heavily broken apart.

Your sauce is now ready.

I'll submit two killer recipes:

Jalapeno poppers:

A shytload of japs. (smaller ones preferably)
1 package or jar of sundried tomatoes.
1 bunch of fresh basil.
One tub of WHIPPED cream cheese
One package of THICK CUT bacon.

carefully slice the japs open to clean the insides, but still be able to stuff. I find a 'T' shape cut works best. the top of the T, being at the cap of the Jap.

chop the sundrieds and basil and mix it all together with the cream cheese.

spoon the mix into the bellies of the japs, and close them the best you can.

Wrap a half a strip of bacon around the Jap, and either skewer them, or stick a toothpick through to hold the bacon in place.

BBQ, or stick in the oven. Cook them somewhat slow, until the bacon looks done. about 20 minutes at 300 or so. use your judgement.

The cream cheese will be smoldering hot, so be careful!!

Try not to jizz yourself due to the pure awesomeness!

My Kickass Spaghetti recipe: be aware that this has a bit of a kick.

First of all, I use linguine instead of Spag noodles. They're a little thicker, and I think they work better:

For the Sauce:

start cooking a package of hot italian sausage. Use HALF of it in this recipe, and freeze the other half for the next time you make this.

If you remember (which I usually dont) take the sauce pan, put it on heat with a couple tablespoons of olive oil. Saute some chopped garlic and a teaspoon or two of crushed red pepper (two packets from a pizza place is perfect) till the garlic barely starts to turn brown, then add the sauce. If you forget to do this, just add the oil, garlic, and peppers to the sauce.

I like to buy the sauce that has the most amount of veggies in it. Ragu's Super Vegetable Primavera is what I prefer.

If you have an onion laying around, shop a little bit, and throw it in. Also, fresh mushrooms and bell peppers are good to, but you dont need to. Asparagus is awesome too, but it will make your pee smell within an hour, so keep that in mind of on a date.

I put in an extra small can of tomato sauce. Even better than this, is a can of crushed 'italian style' tomatoes, cuz it already has herbs in it.

Then, I add a tsp of sea salt, a tsp of pepper, a tsp of basil, a tsp of italian seasoning, garlic powder (if you dont have fresh garlic) a dash of cinnimon, and a bay leaf or two.

If you happen to have any red wine, pour a quarter cup or so in the sauce jar, stir it around, and add to sauce. I usually, dont, so I pour a little beer in instead. If you have neither, use a little water.

Chop up the sausage, and dump half in the sauce, and freeze the other half. simmer and stir often. Cook the linguine. When its done enough, serve.

Once again, try not to jizz yourself due to the awesomeness! Thats what your date's for.
