Hey guys, recently the brick wall of reality has hit me hard and I've been trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I will be graduating in 2011 with a dual degree in finance and economics and as it stands now a pretty high gpa. The problem is, I have no idea what I want to do with this.

So far I have worked for several firms interning. I have done wealth management (not for me at all) and analytical type work (which I like). And I have also built a nice little network.

Now, from here I know I would like to pursue a career in corporate finance. However, the thought of law school has been creeping into my head. And recently, the idea of a joint J.D./M.B.A. has been too.

And even more recently, I have thought about a career in law enforcement. Something at a government level, something in which I would be able to use my degree or hell going to graduate school for criminal justice...maybe after joining the armed forces to boost my credentials.

But plain and simply, I have no idea and would love to hear anyones thoughts, especially guys who are in the finance field.

Thanks.

If you're interested in big time finance, which I am too, the forum you want is WallStreetOasis.com.

I think a good way to get into the finance industry is equity research. The hours are a bit better than investment banking, albeit the pay isn't as good, but I think the skills that you learn in equity research are more valuable than IB. What I mean by this is in ER you can easily transition to hedge funds, asset management, or start your own asset management firm. Or, if you're a well-respected analyst, you can do what is called "transitioning to industry", meaning if you are covering, say, defense companies and Lockheed Martin needs a new CFO, they might give you a call. This isn't to say that IB isn't valuable, and it might be more useful if you are interested in private equity. I think though that a lot of people aren't really sure what investment bankers do, and it isn't investing; that's what asset managers do. If you're interested in being the guy that recommends what to buy or sell, ER or AM is where you should be. If you're interested in making those big time M&A deals or taking companies public, IB is where you should be.

If you're interested in law enforcement and finance, ever thought about working at the SEC? Also if your grades are good, the CIA has been hiring a lot of economic analysts these days, but they are very selective in their hiring process (about on par with a top tier investment bank as far as competitiveness, but on top of that extensive drug tests and a polygraph interview), and also basically every laid off Wall Streeter is applying there as well. Still worth looking into.

It looks pretty grim for everyone right now, although it might not seem that way. Wall street is finished. By 2011, perhaps even earlier, I reckon there will rage a nuclear war between Israel and arabs, and their only ally today, United States is being imploded for this very reason. The bail outs, the mandatory vaccinations, the ever looming prospect of martial law, and of course patriot's response to it all via violence.

How is it important to the subject at hand? It is, because economy is a health of a nation, and the nation is being given a hefty dose of venom.

Of course it is hard to say what will be. But the fact is, end of 1800s there was a similar turn of events, history books from back then even talked about illuminati and their struggle to achieve global control. Results of it all was WW1 and WW2, and millions of dead. Not surprisingly if we take a look back now, at writings of one of such globalists, Albert Pike and his writing about 3 world wars, it went EXACTLY as he said it would go. Why would WW3 be any different?

In fact there is no reason for them to deviate from their plans of world domination and the plan for 3 world wars. I believe it will go just like Pike described, Israel vs arabs, and United States is in the way at this point in time.

I too am in financial industry, gold. Three prospecting countries at the moment and in the near future appear to be Russia, China, and Brazil. Brazil being the poorest but also with best survivability rate in case of global nuclear holocaust. In fact that's where pretty much all globalists have property. Puppets like Bush, Obama, Clintons, and big fish such as George Soros and Rockefellers. So I suggest one of these 3 countries for your future, find a firm that has offices in one of those countries. Convert all your assets to precious metals, sell all property you own in the states. Finally move.

I spoke to my buddy today, we used to serve together, he works for DHS now. I heard him speak on Alex Jones show today, so decided to give him a call, he says his unit was briefed already for conducting chock points, for the h1n1 vaccination. You take the vaccine he told me, or they put you on a bus and ship you to a concentration camp. They also trained for engaging unruly crowds, armed militias attacking check points, and worst of all he told me there are numerous mass grave sites throughout. I've been hearing reports of mass grave sites and concentration camps before, but to hear it from your friend who you trust and who works for the military. If you know what I mean. Now I can't sleep, things appear to be moving too fast nowadays.

#1 problem however are not globalists with their plan for 3 world wars and one world government, it is dumb people. The sheep who simply refuse to wake up. Patriots who choose to be racist, thinking it's all jews. Jews who are too proud and too dumb to realize the whole thing is coming down on them. It's all going by the book, be the bible, one of David Icke's books, or more precisely Albert Pike's plan for global government. This country is finished buddy, there simply is not enough time to wake up people anymore. Time to move the heck out of here. I don't know if you're one of the awake ones or still asleep, but trust me on this one, this country is finished.

Evzone, thank you for your reply. I've heard a lot of good things about equity research. And also, the CIA hiring economic analysts sounds very interesting. But like you said, it is probably beyond very selective.

I guess my next big question is where would you go yourself in the finance industry? I am still trying to figure the whole industry out and obviously you know what you are talking about so I would like to hear where you would most be comfortable.

And premierxxx, Im not exactly sure where that came from...

if your interested in a justice related field why not try going to law school? you could start your own business or further your education by going to graduate school. currently i am starting my own consulting business, studying for my lsats/ law school exam, and also about to undertake management at a nightclub. it's all creating opportunities for yourself so you can choose what you want and if you don't like what you chose move on.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

CIA will not hire you right out of college. At least 3 years of general experience is required if you are looking to get hired based upon your finance skills.

And why would you choose to major in finance knowing that there are like no finance jobs out out there ? If you were smart, you'd have majored in accounting. Even if you hate accounting, its a way to get your foot in the door, and once you do you can alwyas branch out from there.

Finance + accounting dual degree. Economics is a useless degree. I majored in economics. Doesn't really impress on the resume

Good job on building those networks and experience. I won't suggest anything because you know better than anyone else here what it is you want to do.

All i i can say is that it will be impossible to decide what you want to do with the rest of your life from now until 2011. And even if you did, the chances are it won't stick, because no ones life is written in pages- many things will change; opportunities, situations, ideas, people and different needs and wants will come and go. Whatever you decide to go into, make sure you will enjoy it, and look only ahead.

LOL. These are interesting, if a little far-fetched opinions, but not the right post to express them in!

While i don't believe completely in the illuminati, i do suggest everyone Youtube 'The Arrivals' and watch that sh!t. The fact that they are trying to ban it is reason enough to check it out.

But i agree on the last paragraph. We are all in the same boat, and it is sinking while these bourgeious sail away in the luxury cruisers. A lot of the working class the world over need to see past their differences such as religion, skin, nationality- all of which are highlighted rigorously by the media in order to divide- and unite around common causes. When your governments have money for war and failing banks, but nothing for public services and the poor and hungry, then its time to remind them 'people power' is still their biggest concern.

What sort of fcukig advice is this? Your advice is disappointingly useless to the OP and anyone else reading...
