So I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but since I've returned after a sojourn away from this board, and feel like contributing, here it is. Even the utter newbie AFC can use it! In fact, that's who it's targetted for, although anyone and everyone SHOULD use it, at least as a starting point if you're not comfortable with it already.
Many guys have trouble doing the simple thing of conversing with a girl. We're here to help!
So you've bumped into her (she thinks randomly
, you've got her attention...how do you keep talking to her?
So you've known her for a while, and she's polite to you, and you talk sometimes, but she just doesn't seem to be EXCITED about your conversations--maybe she's the shy type, maybe you just can't act normal around her because she's SO HOT?
Today's tip is very simple. It involves when she asks you a normal question. Now normally, you would give her a normal answer. Here's her normal question, and your typical answer...
Her: Hey, funny running into you here. Do you have a class in this building?
You: (flustered) Yeah, I do.
Now what? Is there awkward silence? Do you ask her the same question back? Do you find something else to ask her? Do you just stare at her at this point?
NO! You just missed a great opportunity to be unpredictable and quite possibly make her laugh, you fool! What you SHOULD have done, is think of the zany, the off-the-wall, ridiculous--sometimes the OPPOSITE answer works great--answer. Like this:
You: No, actually I just hang around here
waiting for people to ask me that.
or
You: Classes? What Classes?
Let's try one outside of school.
Her: You wanna come to a party on Friday?
Of COURSE you do. So what do you say? Here, pick one:
You: Nope...actually, I have to stay home to make some ice cubes.
You: Me? *blush*
Now I'm not saying give the opposite answer all the time--that would be silly and predictable! But there's a certain mindset at work here...it's creative, humorous, CONFIDENT, and different. If you can keep in mind to not always answer girls' questions directly, and, instead, SWITCH IT UP A LITTLE FOR GOD'S SAKES, this truly will get you a long way. This is tremendously easy to practice, and easy to integrate in your everyday conversations. It is a wonderful confidence builder. A nice thing about it is you can START answering a question unpredictably, without planning the rest, and because you got it out there, you will probably force yourself to come up with a ridiculous explanation...and that's what you want. The ice cubes up there were an example of that.
It works great for phone conversations, since people are always asking questions during those. It works especially well when she's asking your advice. It even works when you want to change the subject from something you don't feel like talking about at the moment. It puts YOU in control. And she laughs.
