OK, I'm a bit older than the average DJ/DJ in training here, but listen to this: The DJ site is golden, you Gen Xers and Yers or whatevers (30 and under) are receiving information that is golden, that wasn't taught to us oldsters. You are receiving not just tidbits of advice, but a manual for a lifestyle of living. And it's the best lifestyle. It's about how to take care of yourself emotionally.
None of my same-age friends received this advice. If they became DJs it was by accident. There was no internet growing up and all the relationship books at the stores -- and they're still this way -- are written from an AFC or women's point of view.
A guy I knew once put roses in a guitar case and played love songs for a girl outside her window (several years ago). Naturally the girl crapped on him and thought this was stupid, and the biotch even mentioned this to his best friend! Yeah, it was AFC but you know what: HE DIDN'T KNOW ANY BETTER! The world is AFC, he was taught to do this courtship crap by TV, books, and probably his father. He had no idea it would backfire.
So PLEASE young DJs, do NOT take this site for granted. Don't brush it off, don't act like these articles and skills are worthless. They are golden. The advice coming from this site is more valuable than anything you'll ever receive in college or on the job market. It's about your LIFE. It will make the difference between a divorce and a good marriage and/or relationship; it will help your skills in dealing with all kinds of people.
Take this stuff seriously!
