I don't like this. Its not true. Being a bigger, meaner person makes you a target for other big mean guys. You will get into fights more, you will have people try to challenge you because they were in the alpha dog position before you showed up. The good thing about being big and mean is that a smaller and smaller percentage of guys have the ability to challenge you, meaning that eventually you will have to face someone bigger and meaner than you.

In other words, it sounds good to be the alpha until you are challenged by someone who is more alpha than you.

I was the weak fat kid for most of my highschool life. Then I started hitting the gym religiously for a year and a bit, and I was suddenly bigger/stronger/faster and more muscular than everyone around me.

What you are talking about is conjecture and make-believe. When I was one of the "alpha" guys at my school, I didn't get challenged or attacked by any of them, I got RESPECT from them without having to even open my mouth or look in their direction.

Alphas don't attack other alpha's. Alpha's attack weak betas that can't fight back ;)

If you're really scared about getting bigger/stronger/more attractive, then you have major issues to resolve.

Also, pick up some self-defense training, it's invaluable and will add to your confidence. When I was the "tough" guy, there was one guy I knew who was kind of skinny and looked like a bean pole... The thing is, he was a black belt in taekwondo and travelled around the country competing. He looked like some skinny little nerd, but no one would fvck with him, for the reasons given above.

Being muscular and athletic helps in the same way.

Love this post. Working out works wonders for ones sense of self-worth, their health and overall strength. The confidence gained by feeling these effects is what helps to get the girl. And yes, girls like a guy with a hot bod and yes, it makes you LOOK more alpha.

BUT...you don't NEED to workout to be a real man.

I'm a man who works out and my brother does not. He is still way bigger than me, more ripped, but I am more of a man than him in a number of ways. I have a better job, I'm more responsible, I have more money in the bank, I'm smarter and I have a number of talents such as music, guitar, art, and learning languages quickly. I talk to women better than he does and I also dress better. In the long run, a woman who selects me will have a FAR better life than one who selects him. Though he would be considered more alpha because he is BIGGER???
Is it alpha to be a big, musclebound, guy who can get every slam dunk?
Or am I more alpha because I can actually live my life the way I want to live it and can also provide for any woman that chooses me, while at the same time being a leader and protector of my friends and loved ones?
There are other factors involved in being a man; working out is a small part of what it takes.

Working out definitely HELPS to become a BETTER man, but that is not the end of what it takes to become a "real" man. In my opinion, a real man wouldn't be on this website, but yet you and I are here. A real man shouldn't need to go to some website for advice as the answer should be within. But thats my opinion. In fact, what constitutes a "real man" is just that - a matter of opinion. So lets not even use that term "real".

I think we should strive to become BETTER men. Better than we were yesterday. I think we can do this by working out, as well as reading and putting into practise, the things we read, and by listening to others and filtering through the tons of useless advice so that we may discern which route is the best for whatever path we happen to be on. We should develop healthy relationships with positive people. We should prepare for our futures by doing things today that will reap the most benefit tomorrow.

Technically everyone with a penis is a real man. But that doesn't mean that every man can be: a survivor, a provider, a protector, a healthy sperm donor and a leader of those around him.

But yes, I feel a level of barbaric manliness everytime I workout. The continual workouts along with reading and implementing new ideas to better myself will definitely put me on the road to becoming a better man. I love this thread, just thought I'd throw my own spin on your philosophy....

This just shows that you have never been in a fight against someone bigger than you. Unfortunately, yes, alpha males attack other alpha males to prove that they are stronger. It happens in nature all the time. To the winner go the spoils.

Which is what I was saying in the beginning... The "respect" you are talking about only happens if the other guys are afraid of getting hurt by you. If they are not, then you had better refine your theory real fast. This mutual respect only occurs with people who are around your general size, outside of that range, the respect disappears.

Sure, working out is great. But that doesn't automatically mean that nobody else does it, or that there aren't bigger stronger guys around. I have been in a fight simply because another guy thought that I would be a good challenge.

I just saw this response. Its totally wrong. People don't fight other high value people for no reason. People don't bully you for no reason. I used to be skinny bastard. Even some girls could wrestle my arm. But did i ever get bullied ? Nahh .

Bullies attack victims. People that have the target in their forehead.
You might be soft , but after working out for some months , you'll get so connected with your manly core that you wont take sh1t from noone.

Anyway , back to the topic ,
Working out is the best thing i've ever done with myself.
The best time i invest on myself is on gym and on field.

And now , something interesting is happening. If i don't go to gym , i feel like a piece of sh1t. I can't skip a day. Im so fvcking addicted. Is this happening to anyone else ?

Great post!

I would recommend taking a combat sport.

I took boxing for 4 years, but I wouldn't recommend it. My face is still pretty, but I am certainly dumber. The disadvantage of having an iron chin is that you can take a lot more punches.

I recommend Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. You can train full speed and the worst thing that can happen to you is a broken arm. ;)

Lifting weights is not really going to make you better at fighting unless you already know how to fight. I've never seen a barbell throw a punch. If you're that worried about being attacked on the street, buy a gun. This isn't UFC and there isn't going to be a referee there to make sure the rules are followed.

I find that when I work out that testosterone does increase but that just means I get more acne and my hair recedes faster. Testosterone increase does make you feel more 'manlier' but the boost goes when you check out your hairline in the mirror. Thats what I have found but again everyones genetics are different so if you dont find yourself losing hair then thats good for you!

This is kinda true. Street fighting these days isn't the same as it used to be. People will bring friends to fight someone, use weapons and fight dirty.

Even if you are trained in boxing or a martial art, and are strong, your still going to have a problem fighting 3 people at once, who will pull knives on you.

Try to avoid all conflicts that you can.

How about this: Do NOT workout to get chicks. Work out because you want to enhance your life, get more energy, and feel good about yourself. Doing it with the ulterior motive of getting laid, that's just coming from a place of desperation and neediness if you ask me. Do what you want because YOU want to, not because you think it'll help you get chicks.

That being said, if you're looking for things that will enhance your wellbeing and give you a confidence boost, working out is a good start. So is taking up martial arts, white water rafting, paintball, rock climbing, and a whole host of other "manly" activities. I think this is where guys go wrong these days when growing up:

Too many video games and not enough real life activities & experiences.

The whole point of thread is that if you work out , your value on your eyes will go up and you'll become much more attractive in general , not just with women but guys are also going to be led by you. You will feel better for yourself and thats whats going to increase your game and increase your manly being in general. Being a real MAN will help you handle a lot of problems that you will have with girls.







To others that said being muscular does not help you with fighting.
If you are muscular and have masculine/ man vibe , noone will fvck with you.
