I wish I had discovered during my formative years.....the 48 laws of power.

I think the book encompasses everything a DJ should strive to be (apart from unecessary abusive use of deceit). The book discusses concepts such as seduction, being indirect and living in isolation leading to awkwardness in your interactions with other people (AND MUCH MUCH MORE). It is like a guide to getting much better at social mechanics.

The book is discussed in the archives section of the site I think but its only the cheat sheet that is put on this site as well as google and I don't think that really gives a full scope of it.

For every guy who has felt powerless in some area of your life ( as I have from time to time and still do) , this book I believe can be a massive catalyst towards positive transformation so I thought I would share it with you. Im still in the process of reading it and think its gonna take a while before I fully digest its teachings and then apply them in real time in my day to day life.

The book can be downloaded at scribd.com by signing up which takes about 17 seconds or can be read on the site (Oh and another thing...I don't work for scribd.com).

Im not expecting anyone to fully read it and comment as its a monstrous book of 476 pages. Im just raising awareness about the book as it is like a huger version of pooks teachings (sexuality aside) and I thought that i'd share the link with the community and dudes on this site who feel helpless sometimes. Here it is;

Robert Greene is the sssss****tt!!!

I've read most of Art of Seduction and I just bought 48 Laws of Power.

It'll take me a while to get through it, but I agree....great book on how to handle yourself in every facet of life.

You damn right he is. Im amazed at how a normal human being could have come up with all of that. He must have sifted through an awful lot of history books to find 'relevant' stories to support the laws.

Reading the book is like watching a really good chinese dynasty action movie with lots of sword action, an intelligent western movie and an ancient roman film filled with lots of conspiracy and murder.

One more thing , this book is essential reading for high schoolers about to go into university . It should be renamed the essential guide to surviving uni or the essential guide to life! I would have avoided a lot of pain if I had read and applied this to my journey through uni.

I broke a lot of these laws and am still paying the consequences mentally and PHYSICALLY! one year on from finishing uni. The cheat sheet is not enough, the whole book must be read.

Finally , im wondering if anyone has read the book and can put a spin on some of the laws as regards to dealing with women.

For example: always say less than necessary, conceal your intentions, win through your actions never arguments, Learn to Keep People Dependent on You , Enter Action with Boldness , Master the Art of Timing , Be Royal in your Own Fashion, Act like a King to be treated like one , Play to People’s Fantasies .

How can these laws in your opinion be used for seduction ?

I lost a job by not following Law 1 and 38. Too young and dumb.

excerpt from the book

enter action with boldness

Few are born bold

if boldness is not natural neither is timidity. It is an acquired habit, picked up out of a desire to avoid conflict. If timidity has taken hold of you, root it out.Your fears of the consequences of a bold action are way out of proportion to reality, and in fact the consequences of timidity are far worse. Your value is lowered and you create a self-fulfilling cycle of doubt and disaster. Remember:The problems created by an audacious move can be disguised, even remedied , by more and greater audacity.

Part of the charm of being seduced is that it makes us feel engulfed, temporarily outside of ourselves and the usual doubts that permeate our lives.

The moment the seducer hesitates, the charm is broken, because we become aware of the process ,of their deliberate effort to seduce us of their self-consciousness. Boldness directs attention outwards and keeps the illusions alive, it never induces awkwardness and embarassment .
