You know what irks me (re: Shooting Pool)

I don't know if this really belongs here but it's not really anything else either. I'm at the local sports bar chilling and watching a basketball game on TV and I'm shooting pool by myself killing time and there is this guy and this girl next to me on the other pool table.

And so they are shooting pool or what not and the guy is just trying to break the balls on every freaking shot, hitting balls off the table, not only is it tacky, not only is it not the purpose of shooting pool.. the point of shooting pool is to not only hit the balls in but to control the Queue ball to setup your next shot and you can't do that if you are trying to break the ball every time you get it. There's some times when you need to put a little bit on the shot to get the ball to come back to you but not every shot.

I wanted to say something to the dude and would have if he weren't on a date. Not only that, i wonder what goes through a girls mind when she is playing pool with someone that unsmooth/ out of control. If I let him **** me is he going to treat me like these pool balls lol? come on bro show some control. Command the table.

sounds like you are making too much of it, i dont know much about pool either man i probably would have made all kinds of mistakes too

I mean, he wasn't horrible he was hitting shots when they were there at least some of them but i mean he was just murdering the ball. like the ball would be 2 feet from the pocket and the dude would act like he's freaking roger Clemons or something. and like he would have a shot available if he'd just push the queue ball and let it land right next to the rail and he'd have a straight shot coming up but he'd kill it and the ball would bounce off every rail and end up in the middle of the table. smh




i'm not saying it's right or wrong, i'm saying it irks me. don't killt he damn ball. and it shows a lack of control. you don't have to be a professional pool player to not kill the ball every time you hit it.

Yeah, I think it's that or he just hasn't learned the subtleties of playing pool yet. I knew a guy who used to play a lot like that. He actually wasn't a bad shot, and he was really good at banks, but he hit every shot very hard. So yeah, he wasn't always setting the cue ball up. He was a fairly young guy, and he probably enjoyed the release of testosterone and aggression.

Haha, when a group of people consisting of both males and females is out bowling, that's when I'll see crazy things like the ball being hurled with all its strength and even lobbed sometimes

Regarding pool though, if you can shoot, the pool table is one of the best places to meet women. It's the only really important thing going on in the bar, it gives you a purpose to be there (and you might win some money). It's the only pressure situation besides dates. Women love to see how you are under pressure. Sometimes you can ask random girls to be your partner. As teammates or opponents you get to ask their name and shake their hand as a formality. If you're new in town it's a way to meet everyone. And if you run the table against a popular shark the local women will literally go home with you.

My father does this. It's kind of funny to me because he's obviously overcompensating for some insecurity. Not to mention you couldn't possibly be aiming if you're smashing all the balls that hard. Half the time you scratch anyway, doing that.
