Why waste time. She wants you if she's gonna say something like that? All you need is one sentence, and you're in the bed.

i think some of you guys are overreacting with the "Simple is best" ideology. Yes Simple is best, but if you are naturally C&F as i am, a response like the one i mentioned isn't strange, unexpected, or bad.
I'd say that yes, keeping it simple is the easiest and most likely to succeed way, but if your natural demeanor is one that is playful and funny, it shows much more confidence and comfort being able to say thanks in a whole different way.
Granted, not everybody can do it.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.
You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.
