Here's a quick one I can't figure out guys:

There's an American visiting girl over at the university and I've met her, and gotten her name, and forgotton it.

I ask her again at the end of the conversation, saying "sorry, forgot your name!". She tells me what it is.

A few days later, I forget yet again. Somehow I pull it off asking her for it again. I ask her if she'd like a drink, she says "water".

Two days later, she comes up to me in a group brushing my shoulder with her hand, I look up (she's behind me) and she smiles. I make a conversation and my mind's starting to tick - she's really cute.

Err ... question number one ... (for the Americans to answer) am I right in assuming when a girl asks for water she's being polite in not asking you to spend money, yet still accepting your offer?

And ... question number two ... (anyone!) for crying out loud, I forgot her name AGAIN. I don't know if I can meet one of her friends to get it before I end up seeing her again. Is there any way I can pull off attaining that name?

Its either Lydia or Laura. Possibly something else...

Nicholas, Nicholas, Nicholas, forgetting someone's name is the ultimate insult. To them, their name is the most beautiful word on earth. The trick for remembering names is to use it in your conversations with her, and link her name to someone else you know with that name. Ask a friend what her name is, and then go up to her and make a point of using her name in every sentence.

Good luck
Matt

"Nicholas, Nicholas, Nicholas, forgetting someone's name is the ultimate insult."

Certainly is ;)
That's why it's so good to do it to people you don't like ;)

Tut tut Nick, is the memory going early? ;)

"Err ... question number one ... (for the Americans to answer) am I right in assuming when a girl asks for water she's being polite in not asking you to spend money, yet still accepting your offer?"

I'm not american, but I would imagine it means 1 of 3 possiblities.
1. What you said about accepting but not bleedin ya dry

2. Maybe she's a little unsure about you and doesn't want to accept an alcoholic drink off you yet.

3. Maybe she just fancied water / is a teetotaller ;)

many girls only drink 3 things.

water, coffee and beer, now....

at least in states, water is free at about 20-30% of the Dining Inc.

MOST of the time, they charge water far more expensive than anything else.

LASTLY, girls love WATER.

Let me help you out Nicholas. I am terrible with names, but I use this line whenever im stuck, but can only use it ONCE each girl:
"Can you tell me how to pronounce your name again?"

Here's a simple tip:

When she says her name, LISTEN to what she says.

I'm not being condescending; I have the same exact problem (although not with women). Half the time, when someone is introduced, I don't even pay attention to what their name is. If you asked me 5 SECONDS after they told me their name, I wouldn't know. So you just have to make a conscious effort to remember it. And try to say it at least once, like, "Oh, nice to meet you, Jen."

either she doesnt want to spend the $ or doesnt drink. use her name while talking to her to help yourself remember it.

wrong:
her: so whats your favorite sport?
you: baseball, you?

right:
her: so whats your favorite sport?
you: my favorite is baseball, whats yours <girlsname>?

best way is to repeat her name throughout the conversation. not only to you'll more likely to remember her name , but you'll grab her full attention.

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.

Heres an update to this

(Remember, original post at top posted ages ago - the scenario is over!)

Her name is Liz!!!

I asked her as nicely and apologetically as possible, a few days before she left the UK for America. Yes, she was very cute and an ideal woman for me - but let's face it - I was stupid enough to forget her name.

She was very glad though that I had managed to see her "one more time before she left".

Here's my ultimate tip: ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT NAME!

Or miss out on some fantastic girls!

Thats funny as hell, i was at the club dancing with this chick alot. Well she told me her name but i totally forgot it, and when i asked her number, i had to ask her name again, and guess what. it was LIZ hahaha. Her jaw dropped and she made one of those "i cant believe it faces".

I asked her if she remembered my name, and she did. So that plan didnt work. but in the end she didnt even really care and i got her number.

Repeating her name back to her is an excellent tactic for remembering names. But I've found a more fun way to remember. Fantasize about her writing her name on your inner thigh with her tongue. Do you remember it now? I bet you do!

I forget the names of just about everybody I meet not just women lol. I only remember names when a person begins to mean something to me, they become a friend, they start to become a girlfriend etc.

Other then that, I hear the name, and immediatly forget, I ask again at the end of the conversation, then by the time I'm 10 minutes away the name is gone again. I've asked my friends what a girls name was after I had asked her twice, and I even forgot what the name was after he told me for the third overall time. To this day I can't remeber the name of this girl I'm talking about above. She was a girl that worked in a coffee shop that was always giving me looks. Think my friend even told me a 4th time and I've forgotten lol. I mean the name is really wierd and hard to remember, something with an E at the beggining? lol.

Oh well, I don't really care, I remember the names of the really hot ones anyway :p

I know it won't matter for this particular situation, but in the future, if you forget a girl's name, don't ASK HER AGAIN!! That's insulting. Instead say this, "I really like your name, how do you spell it??" Even if its something simple like Cathy, some girls spell it with a K, other with a C. Some end it with a Y, other with an I. So let's say you asked Liz how to spell her name. Once she did it, you could say something else like, "so I guess you don't like Elizbeth??" Because that's probably her real whole name. Got it, good.

Pick a girls name, any name.

Now, start calling EVERY SINGLE GIRL that you meet this name. Keep on doing this. The first few times that you call her by the wrong name, she will give you a wierd look and say "That's not my name...my name is ___"

But keep it up, at it will turn into a joke after the next 10 times or so. You then have heard her name enough to remember it AND you can call her by the joke name, because she knows that YOU call her that.

Then, later on (when you see her in some other venue), you can call her by the fake name, and you can both have a huge laugh that nobody else will understand.

F*ck trying to remember girls names, you got better things to remember!

Bullshyt! Forgetting someone's name especially after you just met them 5 minutes ago is an INSULT. It's like saying to that person "you and your conversation were not important enough to me, I didnt even care to remember your name."

Now, forgetting someone's name that you've only met once and you havent seen in a while is another thing. It's ok to ask for it again.

I do love your idea about calling a girl you've just met by the same wrong name over and over. I'd love to see her expression when you KEEP doing it after she keeps correcting you! But she's either going to laugh or she's going to give you a weird look and walk away thinking you are a fool

No, people forget things. Not many people are good at remembering names.

You gotta smile real big and look right into her eyes, almost trying to convince her that she is wrong about her own name. If she don't play along with you, she is a dud. (This DOES weed out the dorky chicks though!)

You just have to be in the right mindset to do it though. When I feel good, I can get away with sh*t like this because I am having so much fun that I can't help but joke around.

The flipside is, if I feel sh*tty, I don't do this kind of thing. Your actions have to flow with your mindset at the time. If they don't, then that rubs people (including women) the wrong way.

her: yeah yeah like wise
u: well laura so what are u into
her: well bla bla bla

her: wow no way wanna sleep together

that simple but i dont know about the sleeping together thing. just repent the name and if u have a problem remembering the time of a date. make the date for 9:27 instead of 9:30

Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.
