High/Top Sales=Damn it must be quality ;)
OMG THERE'S MORE THEN ONE TOP SELLING GIFT PER YEAR?! GTFO

If you weren't so one sighted you'd realize that top selling gift of the "tickle me elmo" was not tickle me elmo, but was in fact the Playstation 2.

I never said the high sale means top quality.

Re:

I agree with whoever likes the XBOX360...

It's like an undervalued stock...

Nobody knows it's potential.

Good Graphics are ONLY the beginning.

I would surmise Gate's vision to be a fully integrated media experienced, and with the XBOX360 and computers, he's getting ever closer to that goal.

I talked with some of the guys @ gamestop and they were more GA-GA over the Nintendo Revolution because of the hyper sensitive remote control/controller they're designing.

Basically the new nintendo remote can sense depth and location on the tv screen, giving it the possibility to swing a sword, use a baseball bat, shoot it like a guy, or throw a pass in football. It could revolution gaming a step further than the XBOX 360 and PS whatever it is.

I do know XBOX has lots of technology, both online and off. Graphics make it enoyable, esp in shooting games because you can see guys, and the AI is much smarter, therefore more realistic. No loading times means no freezing, no slow game plan, no lags.

As said before, manufacturers are not making it a "mine is better than your's system". Instead, there's difference enough that you actually must BUY all of them, or wait.

I mean right now...

You could nab the 360...and buy a ps2 and Gamecube on depressed prices. Load up on games and keep rolling. Eventually the new Playstation will roll out and the Revolution would drop again, so you could acquire that as well, or wait. And keep going.

I had a used Ps2 and XBOX I bought around the same time, each for diff. reasons, but both @ 100$, which is pretty cheap.

I say BUY XBOX 360, just because it's so SICK. I played Call of Duty 2...and WOW. Go find a kiosk immediately.

The first gen 360 games only represent a fraction of what the system is capable of graphically. You're going to be seeing some mind-blowing looking games on it in the next two or three years.

Also, I don't expect the majority of launch/1st-gen games to be anything special gameplay-wise. They usually aren't (I wasn't even that impressed with the first Halo). I can't see myself bothering with the 360 for another year or so, unless something really exciting comes out that I can't get for PC.

-edit- And by exciting, I mean a new gameplay experience. 1st-gen games are usually just previous-gen games with updated graphics. It's going to take some gameplay innovation to get me to buy a 360. All in all I was pretty disappointed with the Xbox, even though it's the one that got my most attention this generation. I think the only game I can look back on with really fond memories is Amped. Too bad they're absolutely raping the Amped series with the 360 version. God that looks like shyt, and I'm not just talking about the graphics.

They're not necessarily the best. Some people act as though 2D inherently lends itself to better gameplay than 3D, and that's simply not true. 3D is harder to pull off, though, and a lot of developers rely on the fact that it's 3D and the 3D graphics to try to make the game stand out. On the other hand there isn't exactly a lot of innovation left in the 2D realm. Another Ghouls 'n Ghosts game? Who cares. Is it going to offer anything I couldn't play fifteen years ago?

What chip do you have?

BTW, Xbox 360 will rock. Playing Halo 2 in high def is going to be sweet. PDZ will be orgasmic. I am such a nerd.

Amen to 2D having the best gameplay... then again, the general emphasis on game development today has shifted to "excitement" and "trend" more than anything else.

3D visuals obviously don't lend themselves to bad gameplay necessarily (though the finnicky early 3d engines in the first few generations of consoles didn't help thiings), i'll still be sticking to my SNES, etc ;)

As for the 360s' graphics, it's more down to the developer as to what you can achieve with the specs, some pretty amazing stuff has been pulled off in past machines. That said, the graphics capabilites ARE a huge selling point to the masses for each new system, and they ARE a key emphasis of the development of new consoles...

The "All games are playable" quotes from XBOX listed by a previous poster are faulty, imo... a consoles capabilites are limited by what the developer chooses to throw at it.

/goes off and has a crack at mario world

Though I'm not a huge fan of video games (I play my XBox once every... 4 or 5 months? lol)... One of my co-workers is a HUGE fan of video games and he was talking to me about how he went to the mall to test out the new XBox 360. From my understanding, the gameplay is MUCH faster than a normal XBox and the graphics are so detailed that you can see each of King Kong's hairs move in the wind. His exact words: "It's crazy".

Also, you have to understand. Not many game developers have been able to program games to the XBox 360's complete potential.

Yeah, there's nothing much like it. Give them 3-4 years and you'll see. Take a look a Azurik.... Then take a look at Splinter Cell 3. Exactly.

i am watching the xbox 360

for some reason Australia doesn't get it till June next yeah

i think the 360 will capture some market share and those who want the latest gadjets

i own an xbox myself

but i saw one movie of PS3 that made me see the light

if you only see one e3 demo of the next generation consoles

if you are looking for that "wow factor" from the next 3 consoles

you will only find it in here on PS3

http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/killzone2/media.html

the game is called KILLZONE 2 and the demo shows the best graphics and gameplay i have ever seen

it has better graphics than Battlefield 2 on PC !!!

it is enough to make any xbox owner cancel their order for a 360

i think Microsoft is in serious trouble from the PS3

Best 30 bucks I've ever spent. I love this thing.

Cept it got me banned from xbox live a couple times. :(

And to all you people who jerk it over 2-d. Just get a modded xbox, some emulators and some old roms and play all the old 2d games you want.

There's even ways to adapt old console controllers to work in the xbox.

Nintendo's answer will include the ROM-downloading equivalent of iTunes - every game for every Nintendo console ever made downloadable from Nintendo (except the GameCube, but it can play GameCube discs in it), and if Sega gets in on it, possibly every game from every system THEY've ever made too (except Dreamcast) in download form. Plus, Nintendo systems dominate in multiplayer games, and I'm a social gamer, not a solo gamer. This all in addition to the Revolution's own games.

I posted a huge post about it here: http://goldphantom.blogspot.com

Good article MF.

Great to see another fan of the N... few and far between!

Revolution seems to be the pick of the bunch.

I remember getting up in the wee hours to conquer zelda as a kid... good times :D
