According to lead investigator Lt. Tommy Pope, of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, in Fayetteville, Ga., the deaths of WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel were the result of a double murder-suicide, WWE.com has learned.

Benoit failed to appear both at Saturday’s live event in Beaumont, Tx., and WWE’s Vengeance: Night of Champions in Houston Sunday night, after informing WWE of a family emergency. Several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning prompted concerned friends to alert Richard Hering, VP of Government Relations for WWE, Inc. Hering, in turn, spoke with Fayette County sheriffs Monday, and requested that they respond to the Benoit residence to check on him and his family.

Authorities representing the Sheriff’s Department initially had a difficult time entering Benoit’s new Fayetteville home Monday afternoon, which had been guarded by two large German Shepherds roaming freely around the property. Once authorities entered the residence, they quickly located the bodies of Benoit, Nancy and Daniel. WWE was notified of the discovery at approximately 4 p.m.

At 10 p.m. Monday night, Lt. Pope held a press conference in conjunction with Scott Ballard, the district attorney for Fayette County. The press conference officially ruled authorities’ findings as a double murder-suicide from within the home.

WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday.

The three bodies have been received by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab, in Decatur, Ga., where autopsies will be performed Tuesday morning. Toxicology reports will not become available for at least two weeks.

WWE.com has further information relating to both the investigation and the cause of death, but the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department has requested that WWE.com not release any additional details at this time.

Well the thing is Espi this is all completely out of nowhere for fans and even real life friends of his as Benoit for the longest time seemed like a genuine good person.

Its extremely hard to process and conceive of that he of all people could do something as disgusting and despicable as what he apparently did.

Unlike the Eddie Guererro death, this aint lookin like no "tragedy", but its lookin like some kinda awful act of murder by a guy who most perceived to be a really nice guy

The latest evidence says he strangled his wife and smothered his son, before hanging himself. I'm horrified and I sure as hell ain't going to be honouring the memory of a child killer.

WWE has apparently removed all his merchandise and his profile from their site and will probably be distancing themselves from him real quick. I'll be outraged if they continue to honour him after all this.

I guess the most shocking part is that he was so highly spoke of by everyone and (as baller said) perceived as such a genuine nice guy, who lived with passion. How wrong we were!

I used to be an obsessive wrestling fan in the 90s and had such an innocent perception of the business. I even tried to get into it and joined a local club. My eyes have really been opened since then!

Wrestling nickname – “Rabid Wolverine” (what does that say??)

Also, being a really nice genuine guy may result in pinned up emotions inside (kind of like an AFC going crazy and killing everyone in sight aka Virginia Tech)

It coulda also been some other AFC act, such as him finding out his wife cheated, him being roided up and having roid rage, and going crazy

Could be many many different stories – but one thing that is a fact is that he was instigated to do whatever he did (even though I don’t condemn what he did).

Who knows, maybe he was framed? You just can’t tell



However, WWE looks pretty bad right now, because their special little tribute show was held before these facts were known, and they all treated Benoit as a hero and an icon.

Now, they definitely need to distance themselves from honoring him in any way if he did murder his family and then commit suicide.

You missed the point. Cracking jokes about innocent murder victims (especially after they are recently departed, especially in reference to women and children) is in very poor taste. My reference to kharma was to get you to consider how you would want people to speak of you after you just died.

Here are more updates I found and heard, this story is just getting worse and worse:

Once again, Ballard said Nancy Benoit was killed sometime on Friday, Daniel on Saturday morning, and Benoit killed himself Saturday night.

- According to the medical examiner, Nancy was found with bruise marks on her back which is consistent with a knee being placed on her back, bruising on the front of her body suggesting she had been pressed against the floor, and her neck indicated she had been strangled.

- There is no indication Daniel tried to make contact with anyone after his mother had been killed.

- District Attorney Scott Ballard reveals needle marks were found on the arms of Daniel Benoit and he had been injected with growth hormones because "the family considered him undersized".

- Ballard suggested that Benoit may have killed his son with a chokehold.

- A single Bible was placed beside the bodies of both his wife and son......

No suicide note, found at the scene.

- Text messages from Benoit indicated that Nancy and Daniel were sick (probably sent when Nancy and Daniel had already been killed), and one messaged indicated that the pets needed to be let out.

- Dr. Alan Lipman, also interviewed by CNN, suggested that in the past, Benoit was breaking up the furniture in the home and threatening Nancy.

In speaking with close friends and confidants of Chris Benoit contacted this afternoon, apparently there were some warning signs that something was wrong with Benoit.

Some of the information learned by 1Wrestling.com by colleagues and friends that did not want to be quoted:

"This wasn't roid rage, this was insanity. Roid rage doesn't last for 48 hours. There were signs that something was wrong. Stories have emerged that a year ago he became paranoid and believed he was being followed. He wouldn't let Nancy leave the house because he believed someone was out to get them."

“Chris hated religion. He didn't believe in it. I cannot comprehend him putting bibles by the bodies. I am shocked.”

In addition, 1Wrestling has learned that sources close to Nancy are reporting that she had a safety deposit box with evidence of past rages and that authorities should check the box if anything ever happened to her.

Chris Benoit was a sick man.

Hmm, something still doesn't add up. The above quote says he hated religion, yet he put Bibles next to the bodies? Someone could have easily framed him, like a close friend of the family, and no one would ever know. Because close family friends have keys to the home, and plenty of other access.

Look at the Jon Benet murder. Still hasn't been solved, and look at how long people thought it was the parents who did it. And they're still alive and able to defend themselves. This guy is dead, he can't defend himself. It's all based on what the investigators think, and the "evidence" that they find. Evidence can be easily manipulated. We've all seen it happen before when innocent people get freed from prison 20 years after they didn't do anything wrong.

If your son and wife were coughing up blood, you wouldn't necessarily call emergency numbers. When in those types of situations, your mind is racing and you just don't think straight. I didn't really ever watch wrestling, and I have no prior subjective opinion about this guy. But it just doesn't add up. It's a pretty tragic story overall.

See, here is the big hole in the framing idea. Chris was an "athlete" who was well trained in wrestling moves. Yeah wrestling is fake, but the moves sure hurt like hell. (I know I got a German Suplex in wrestling practice in HS, and powerbombed on gym floors a couple times, now I have Sciatica to deal with) So if someone got in there and killed all three of them. I'm sure the murderer would have a hell of a fight.

Also the whole, Chris killed himself after finding the bodies doesnt make sense either. Why would you report that the reason you arent coming to work is because your son is coughing up blood if you had come home and found your wife and son dead?

I know its "innocent until proven guilty" But he did it. There can't be any other explanation.

Here is a comment Vince MacMahon made tonight on ECW. This is a transcript I got off of wrestlezone.com

"Last night on Monday Night Raw, the WWE presented a special tribute show, recognizing the career of Chris Benoit. However, now some 26 hours later, the facts of this horrific tragedy are now apparent. Therefore, other than my comments, there will be no mention of Mr. Benoit tonight. On the contrary, tonight's show will be dedicated to everyone who has been affected by this terrible incident. This evening marks the first step of the healing process. Tonight, the WWE performers will do what they do better than anyone else in the world--entertain you."

By the looks of this statement WWE made the wise decision to distance themselves from Benoit.

i think u hould read my last posts for that answer....i said someone probsably called benoit or the killer made his wife call and say they were coughing up blood, then killed them, then benoit goes home and them finds them dead and kills himself or gets killed.
