I wrestled varsity for two years in the 121 weight class
wrestling, imo, is the most physically intensive sport you can play in high school....
it's just you and someone else of your similar weight, one on one, no teammates...... for six minutes (well, 3 segments of 2 minutes, if I remember correctly). By the second third, you are tired as hell. By the last section, both of you are so wiped out you can barely stand up, but you have to keep going...
plus the training in intensive..... and you have to start watching what you eat.....
but in the end, it's all worth it! You feel SO incredible! It's like there's nothing you can't accomplish! You lose weight, you gain muscle, you eat better, your body just feels awesome. After a good practice, I usually went home in such a clear state of mind....
I highly recommend wrestling..... but in the first couple weeks, be prepared to stare at the ceiling alot..... because you'll find yourself getting tossed around by the experienced wrestlers all day long......... but odn't get discouraged........ practice hard and soon you'll be throwing bulgy sweaty guys on the floor and having your way with them......
