Anyone in wrestling at school? I wanna know what your guys opinons are about it. Especially from you guys who are in it,

I just got into it today and so far were doing weight training so I'm hoping I get pretty cut. Man those dead lifts are back killers. I was dead liftin 275 and I weigh 133. How much does everyone dead lift and whats your weight?

But yeah my main question was are you guys who take wrestling cut or getting cut? Also I'm guessing it also greatly helps you out in fights because most fights are grappling and all that. Cool thing is I also been taking boxing classes :D so I'm thinkin in a few months I'll be pretty tough. Hope I dont get too ****y though

i used to wrestle.

in my opinion, it depends on your schools wrestling program.

my schools program is pretty intense. 40 guys in a small room with all the windows closed, AC off, and you get like a 2 minutes water break.

it was some of the best exercise ive ever had.

during practice, we'd start with a slow jog and sprint when the whistle blew and jog when it blew again.

then we'd do rolls and side steps. then push ups and sit ups.

after that we'd get a partner and practice new moves for about an hour. then we'd get into groups based on weight and drill.

non-stop wrestling for about 2 minutes at a time.

after that we weight train or run. we ran 3 days a week and lifted 2. varsity came in on saturdays too.

i highly recommend it.
in the time that i did it, i noticed extreme differences in my body.

i dont know how intense your practices are, but either way, its not gonna make things worse. (unless you get hurt).

also, im really not sure what the divisions are anymore, but im pretty sure right now youd be in 135 (it might actually be 133).

if you start losing weight (i lost 10lbs) you might wanna think about dropping to 125s.

in conclusion, i say go for it. it should help you physically.

hope i helped

I wrestled from 6 to 18. I'm 22 right now, and I always get, "Did you used to wrestle?". They say I have a wrestlers build. For some reason you never lose the broad shoulders and thick neck you get from the sport. Wrestling is the ultimate.

I used to wreatle in Highschool for awhile and let me tell you it was great!

Even though a lot of the guys on the team including me, would complain about the practices which were pretty grueling, in the end it was more than worth it Not only did I feel more energized (excluding the moments immediately after), but after awhile my body started looking really nice and cut.

Another thing about wrestling , for me personally, was the huge surge of confidence I felt going out there and grappling one on one with another person in front of a crowd. If you're shy guy like i was, the first time you get out there you'll prolly be scared ****less but eventually it becomes nothing, and you start feeling feel like a king (which seeps into your normal non-wrestling life), especially if you're winning.

I would definitely recommend wrestling!!

Yeah I wrestled in high school back in the day, 125 and 130. This sport can make a man out of you. It is pretty intense, but if I had a chance I'd do it over again. And always wear head gear, you don't want cauliflower year. And laxitives are not a good way to loose weight, spitting and saunas worked for me. But suanas are illegal, shh. Yep those were the days...
