i have respect for most people, but when you try and tell me how to live my life, it;s unfair. i have a neighbor that just moved in beside me and he's a pretty big guy. i smoke and yes i do respect non-smokers. anyways i moved my chair so it wouldn't be so close to their window, so the smoke wouldn't blow in. they always hum and hah when i go outside to light one up.

finally he had the nevre to walk up and say hey man how about you go and smoke out in the parking lot, it's starting to bother us. i stood up and said hey i'm a reasonable guy, i moved my chair and your still complaining. last time i looked you moved in beside me and the lease says nothing about smoking outside. then i popped the question about how i was trying to get in shape and i said imagine i came over to your door and asked if you not to bar-b-q all summer because i was trying to get in shape and the smell makes me hungry. would you listen to me? hell no! so don't try and tell me how to live my life cause sures hell i don't tell you how to live. then he walked away.
i can see a battle on the horizon.

i smoke outside cause of the rules the government placed. whose in the wrong?

I go back and forth on the smoking thing myself but I've got a fairly standard rule that I don't want to bother anyone with it.

Sure, you're within your right to sit there but you're still bothering someone. It's not healthy and trying to justify making it easy on yourself (vs going to the parking lot) is just plain stupid.

Just go to the parking lot. Smoking isn't healthy and it bothers people, so if you're going to do it, at least make sure non-smokers don't have to put up with the smoke.

i thought i was being very considerate. the only reason i didn't back down was because say if i did start smoking at the parking lot. whats next him knocking on my door saying the tvs to loud, your alarm clock woke me up. i've been nice to neighbors before and it just got out of hand.

people take advantage of kindness. i moved my seat away from their window. thats as far is i go.

i wanna move to europe just so im with a bunch more people who smoke. it used to be a given, everyone smoked. ask someone on the street, no matter, and theres a good chance you could bum a smoke.

making smoking more popular again is part of my life goal. cancer for the masses!

smoking belongs in coffee shops and bars. i can understand places that kids are around like restuarants and malls, etc. but there should be some kinda revolution to bring back the days where you could walk into a coffee shop or bar, light one up and have a drink. give us back are bars and coffee shops!

A few things pop out at me:

#1 At least he wasn't passive aggressive, which most neighbors are. I try to introduce myself and exchange cell #'s if there is a problem with music volume level first time I see them so this doesn't happen.

#2 He should have been nicer about it.

#3 But, he does have a point, especially since its summer in the states and you may smoke a lot for all we know.

I have friends who smoke in their houses using an air purifier. You could also put a fan up to a window on the opposite corner on that side of the house.

Tell him to bugger off. If he persists, tell him that his whining is giving you ear cancer.

I'm not a smoker, but I dislike people with holier-than-thou attitudes. Unless your smoke is wafting into his property (and he can prove it), he can't tell you not to smoke.

I pushed a smoker at the ball game for refusing to put out his cigarette when my niece starting coughing. Smokers are lower than crackheadzzzz
