Well, I'm big on punishing behavior I don't like.

I'll go on record to say that I like to make it clear early-on that I mean business and have no time to waste on rude attention wh0res seeking beta orbiters. Too many plates to spin to invest in a tease.

2) a covert way to build interest

Calling, depending on how soon, can have its advantages. You'll find out if she'll pick up or send you to voice mail. You'll find out if she calls you back or texts back. If you go to voice mail, you'll have to decide on leaving a message or not. If she texts back, then I would resume texting with her. Some women prefer it. It's always different.

How did she flake? You didn't have plans. Not responding to a text is not flaking.

If you aren't good at texting, minimize your use of it. Pick up the phone, be upbeat, and ask her out. Calling on the phone sets you apart from the herd. For some women, yeah, they get weirded out by phone calls that early on. But that's a minority in my experience.

I can't tell you how many women I've heard bemoaning the fact that no men will sack up and call them on the telephone to ask them out.
