catworks said:Hi, new to this forum and site, just got into the bodybuilding idea and just learning as much as i can. Really wanna get down to losing weight and getting lean muscle. 20 male here. currently my weight is around 195 and 5 ft 10, body fat is 19%.
Goal is to cut to around 155 pounds. So i'm looking at an cutting programme. i'm guessing i should not train to become big, should go for the tonned look like brad pitt and keep on maintaining it.
Reason is i'm a singer doing gigs for clubs and pubs and i thinking about what effect weight training will bring. From what I read, strenous workouts with free weights or natilus(powerlfiting, bodybuilding) don't benfit the voice and that The main problem with muscle conditioning exercises (like sit ups, crunches) is the possibility of tension in the neck and shoulders and to Avoid any exercises that encourage or lead to shallow breathing, neck or shoulder tension.
So it is recommend that the best programme i should do is toning or circuit trainig with smaller weights and mutiple reps to keep the body flexible and increase aerobic capcaity while reducing pressure against larynx and the workout is balanced between all muslce groups.
Am i right to go with this plan? I found one pretty good toning article by BIG RED, http://www.teenbodybuilding.com/bigfem.htm but it was for female, haha, not sure it would work for me? If not, Anyone can recommend one? Thanks for reading and looking forward to advice from the more experienced and knowledgable posters.
You should follow the guidelines in the article. It will work. As long as you dont eat junkfood and work out/do your cardio, you should lose weight. working out and doing cardio will increase your metabolism. When you force your body to burn more calories than you eat, bodyfat will be burnt to make up for the energy loss.
