I wake up today with a nasty cold somewhat like the Neocitran commercials. lol

Runny nose, sneezing all the time, conjested, the list goes on.

As for my energy level, its fine since I slept good and feel rested.

Does anyone know if I work out tonight it will have any negative effects such as making the cold worse or stay around longer???

I usually get about 2 colds a year and besides that, I'm a very heathly/fit person.

So what do you say, workout or relax?

Wait till you get back to 100%. The lifting could remess up your cold. Just make sure you keep your diet in check today and are drinking plenty of OJ.

I would go ahead and workout unless you're bed-ridden. Take about 4 grams worth of Vitamin C pills a day. They're something like 50 times more effective than drinking OJ. Any cold I get is finished in a few days because of all the Vitamin C I take.

If the cold is affecting you head up, go ahed and workout and take about 4 grams of vitamin C, ester-C if you can get it...It's about 4 times more effective, take Glutamine, green tea is very good aswell...But if you haven't taken some time off in a long time, go ahed and take a week off, it will recover your central nervous system, so when you come back you'll prolly be stronger

I saw a study somewhere that said you should workout when you are sick, if you can. Obviously if you can barely walk it's not a good idea, but the article said if you can get up and work out, it will actually boost your immune system.
I'll try to track it down...

I think the most logically thing to do would be to rest and start working out again once your back to full health. Working out while sick could lengethen the longarity of the sickness, having an even worse effect on your workout...

If it's the flu, you should stay in bed. But if it's the cold and is only in your nose, then have at it. I've had colds stick around for weeks just because I didn't stop lifting :). It didn't affect my performance at all though.
