Why is everybody saying that you can only work out each body part once a week if you wanna bulk
I'm not saying that's the ONLY way to make gains. I'm just saying that's a way that works very well for most people. I also know that over training is a common problem that prevents people from making gains. Limiting body part workouts to once a week solves this problem. You probably have to be a true mesomorph to be able to really work bodyparts more than once a week.

Hmm well I guess I am a mesomorph maybe thats y its working so well for me (never thought of that aspect...), but on the other hand I just assume(d) that it doesnt matter too much whether you work a body part once and give it 7 days rest or work it with half the amount of sets and give it 3-4 days rest. The higher the intensity the longer the need for recovery, right?
Besides other people (on here too) say they make great gains with a 3times per week full body work out (and I did so too).

Sorry if I was a bit harsh about it ;-) but it kinda annoyed me to read those "you can only make (great) gains if your work a muscle once a week (at the most)" / "training a muscle twice a week is OVERTRAINING" comments... when I bet a lot of the people making those claims maybe aint never even tried to work a muscle twice a week but just repeat what they read somwhere...

Doing weights in the AM and then doing some abs and cardio at night isn't that bad at all. It could be beneficial.

Doing weights in the AM and then doing weights again at night normally will lead to injury and overtraining.

Working out a body part more then once per week really depends on what kind of workouts you do and how intense they are.

As somebody else stated, when I have a LEG day, i won't do any cardio that night.

When I do chest/delts day, i'll usually do cardio at night, but I wouldnt' get a good weight workout if I tried to do arms, back or something else that same night.

Um, no. If you want to plateau and overtrain you can try that, but I wouldn't suggest it.

It's not about your muscles recovering, it's actually about your CNS (Central Nervous System) recovering. That's what Powerlifting is all about, making your CNS more efficient. Once you tire your CNS, you have to let it rest. If you keep tiring it your going to have to wait longer for it to heal. Google it if you want ,I'm too lazy to explain the rest.

Although, final words, don't do it. Keep to 3-4 times a week with 2 bodyparts a day or 3 if you have 2 major and a smaller one (calfs, forearms, traps, etc)
