I didn't read anything other than post directly addressed to me, so I went back to read part of the others.

When getting paid a substantial amount, most people would skew data so their funders could give them more money, it's how they work. However, most of the time it is in biological and pharmaceutical fields.

Read the book I referenced to. The first 40-50 pages are boring as hell, but it gets a little interesting after that.
