I'd like to start a topic on a subject that interests me.
Now, this is just a personal preference, and I've never been able to understand this about myself, but I am drawn to women who smoke. I qualify that statement by saying that ugly women who smoke are repulsive. The smoking tends to enhance their ugliness. OTOH, beautiful women who smoke tend to be alluring. I think this is some conditioning from days gone by when movies and pop-culture glamourized it. I'm a young guy but have seen enough B/W movies in my day to appreciate the way it was glamourized. My attraction is not quite to the level of a fetish. I do not require it to be attracted or turned on. But those women do tend to catch my eyes.
I tend to enjoy watching a woman smoke only when she does it in a feminine manner. Attractive women tend to have their smoking "style" perfected just as their clothes and make-up are deliberate and tasteful. I tend to be attracted to the longer cigarettes with white filters. The brown filter cigarettes imply harsh, full flavor nicotine, signaling a strong addiction and smoking more out of need than out of personal style. Silly, because in reality most are addicted, but this is just some conditioning in my mind that I do my best to explain.
Anyway, to the point. I'm going out this weekend solo or maybe with a friend to a club I like. It is a combination restaurant-club with live bands and since they serve food local ordinances require smoking outside. This tends to be a gathering place for hot girls. I find that another attractive thing about women who smoke is they tend to be more sociable, laid back, have broader boundaries and are more approachable. Lighting up their cigarette is an ettiquette technique that helps get a conversation started. And frankly, I find a certain pleasure in just watching them enjoy their endulgences. I know deep inside that I should seek out a non-smoker for all the obvious reasons, but nevertheless.
Anyway, I am an on/off smoker myself. I find it more comfortable to stand outside with a smoke in my hand too. It also goes well with the beer in my hand.
Question...I've been told be an attractive female friend that most women who smoke are turned off by a male smoker. That is, attractive women. They do not permit their potential partner the luxury of having a weakness or flaw. They figure they are attractive enough to get any man they want, regardless of their habit, so it is easy for them to just weed through the smokers to find a strong willed non-smoker.
I'm amazed that a woman can admit that she is a hypocrite and that other women are too. But I'm not sure if this is real or just her own personal preference. What are your observations guys?
I know that the reality is that if I ditch the habit myself, I open countless doors that are shut by non-smokers in the first place. And I need to get a grip on that...but until then, what are your thoughts?
