Master Don Juan
Oh mate lighten up I was avin' a laugh. And you don't really get it it anyway....not the very subtle stuff. Like, i met this southern couple when I visited, and I called them "y'all" just to take the mick a little bit, they had no idea what I was on about, same when I randomly shouted "Dude!" to the American lads I metMaster Bates said:This is something british people like to tell themselves when they find americans who don't laugh at sh*tty british humor. To say Americans don't "do" (get?) sarcasm and irony is yet another perfect (and ironic) example of european ignorance of american culture.
The UK Office is some of the best British tv comedy ever, where as The US Office isn't even in the top 20. What else do you expect when you try to copy something Rickey Gervais does?
What other examples of European ignorance of American culture are there? I know everything there is to know about it mate: I got MTV and there's a Maccy D's near me! You may understand sarcasm but you certainly don't get irony...actually on the East coast its not so bad, but down South and West Coast you lot are fairly ignorant. I mean, look at American comedians...no intelligence, pure slapstick.
Britain rules...deal with it
