Will a female camoflauge her interest after displaying high interest?

I have been seeing a girl who has very high interest (even going so far as to tell a mutual friend, who in turn told me in confidence). However, after revealing her interest to our mutual friend, she has scaled back her interest. For example, she would usually start texts and sometimes offer dates, but now she does not do this. She is still very receptive to me when I contact her, so this isnt a case of declining interest, I believe she is disguising her interest in order to see if I will chase after her. Has anyone else experienced this?

She told her friend to try to hook you. She wants to be chased now. Her interest is NOT declined, she's waiting for you to come validate her. This kind of **** happens all the time.
