Is it possible to widen your biceps? I have slight body dismorphic disorder(I think) and I can't hlep but notice how thin my biceps look. Is there anything I can do about this?

BDO is like when someone has a eating disorder. They look like they came out of a concentration camp, and they still think they are really fat. I'm the opposite. I think I'm too skinny. I realize this so its hard to really trust my own feelings about my body.

You can't arbitrarily decide which way the muscle will grow. But obviously, working your bicep, will inevitably lead to a thicker arm..from all angles.

There are 2 muscles that compose the Bicep (hince the 'Bi') and you are probably only working one of them by doing palm-up curls. To work the other head of the bicep, do curls with palms facing down.

Thickness comes with time my friend. If you're serious about improving your condition, or even just your biceps I recommend you do two things:

1. Get your nutrition in order, often anxieties and mood disorders such as bdd can be greatly relieved if you know that you're eating right. So there is no reason for you to look skinny/fat.

2. Start a workout routine

But first do some research (bodybuilding.com is a useful site) and if your dedicated enough, within 3 months you will look and feel like a new man.

Good luck!

read diesel's post... I started to work out 2 months ago and I can definitely see some good results... Gotta work.... though body dysmorphic disorder doesn't generally come alone. If it is affecting other areas of your life, then I recommend you to see a therapist. If you just feel like your arms are small, then you gotta stop bytching and start working

Try hammer curls [thumbs up grip] and then rotate the wrist upwards at the top. Obviously this is difficult to do with a barbell, so you can either dumbbells or you can do pulley curls. For pulley curls use the handle made of rope with the balls on the end. Stand so that when all of the slack is out of the cable and the weight hasn't left the ground your forearms are just below parallel to the ground. For one thing, limiting your range of motion to your strong range will allow you to use much more weight, and thus increase the intensity factor. Also, because of the way the knife of your hand sort of grips the rope as your rotate your wrist, you'll notice an especially invigorating extra bit of pump each rep. Hope this helps.
