OP is not saying do not go for what you want in life, he is saying be complete with yourself, and do not NEED a woman to fulfill you.

Only then do you have power. You will still pursue various goals and women if you want, but you will not be ruled by the outcome. The man of power does not always get the hottest girl, he isnt always some rich guy with a lamborghini - he is the man who has control of himself and isnt dependent on outside events to make him happy.

I would just add that a if man makes himself desirable to women, he will never "have to have" a PARTICULAR woman. Even if he desires a woman, he can operate and portray to her that he doesn't need that particular woman. Again, to use the business analogy, when you negotiate a deal, you can negotiate a great deal if you are good at hiding from the counterparty that you really want to close the deal. Once the counterparty gets wind that you really want the deal, all bargaining power is lost.

I would also add that once married, without a prenuptial agreement, then you lose all bargaining power by virtue of the court/family law system; rather than your behaviour per se
