She just dug her own relationship grave.

A really cool wife would enjoy the game with you and agree to celebrate the anniversary later. The guy would probably REALLY appreciate it and make it up to her.

Instead she has turned it into a lose-lose situation.

I love how she deflects ANY blame whatsoever and turns it around on HIM. typical woman, they are never wrong in their minds and everything they do is justifiable.

I can't count how many weddings I've been invited to and turned down during football season. my priorities might not be your priorities but if you're stupid enough to get married during football season then don't expect me to attend. speaking of compromise, i don't see where she's sacrificed anything. getting up at 6:30? aww you pooooor baby.

this guy should have stood his ground and demanded the wedding be moved to another weekend in February.

I wonder if she wrote the article to get a reaction and more visits to that page. If she didn't then I am sorry for husband.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

"Before you start throwing rotten tomatoes, know that I make my fair share of sacrifices for my husband. Every weekday, I get up before 6:30 am to take the dog out because Josh has trouble sleeping. Plus, he gets back/foot rubs almost any time he because I know that his photo work is very physical and requires lots of strength."

Such sacrifice, she walks the dog and gives back rubs, I know it must be terrible for her. So sad...

ONLY way I'd miss the half time show is if there was ORAL being done to me at the time.... lets not talk about what it would take for the game

A man(gina) commented:

Uneffenbelievable that anyone would put a lousy football game, or any type of "entertainment" for that matter, above a relationship. Don't get me wrong, I love football. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I have read many of the comments. I get it. Compromise, selfishness, etc. And, yes I have had to miss some good Laker games over the years. So I know what it feels like. But when we all wake up tomorrow morning, will our marriage or other relationships have been enriched because we saw the Super Bowl? Will the NFL send us a check in the mail for watching this game? No and no! In the bigger scheme of things, it won't really matter if we miss a game here and there.
Sir, your relationship is already in the toilet. You have absolutely no backbone, and your wife is already thinking about another alpha man who watches Super Bowls against his wife's wishes.

A vagina then commented:

Women are always expected to make compromises that ultimately give men what they want. The Superbowl may be "the" game of the year but it's nothing more than a game and the fans don't win a darned thing no matter which team is victorious, so why get caught up in the hype.

There is no way in hel- that I would sacrifice celebrating my wedding anniversary on its rightful date in favor of some stupid, testosterone laden game. If I was ever asked to do such an unthinkable thing, my first phone call would be to a divorce lawyer.
And your vagina is nothing more than a vagina - and there are about 2-1/2 billion more (legal age) ones on this planet.

why couldn't they celebrate their anniversary on the day before or after the super bowl? my grandparents were married 57 years and my grandma didn't demand that my grandpa come back from overseas in WWII so they could celebrate their anniversary. if the super bowl is testosterone laden, then anniversaries are drummed up by females that think one day makes or breaks a marriage. i'm sure any divorce lawyer worth a sh!t would LOVE it if you called him Monday morning demanding a divorce from your husband for watching the super bowl. you'd be the office joke for the month!

QFT. Why can't they do something Saturday night and Sunday afternoon to celebrate the anniversary, then he can watch the game Sunday night?

And yeah, what a heroine she is by getting up at 6:30 to walk the dog. She is so full of sh*t.

see I'm past having to justify my actions. I do not give a **** what anyone thinks about what I want, if i want to do something "m going to do it.

a woman like this, she can have her views all she wants. she just would have them without me in her life.

funny, i called my mother yesterday. to make a long story short, she won 2 tickets to go to Fiji and had planned on taking her BF there with her for their 2 year anny. Well, he didn't want to go. My mom is a travel nutt, she travels like every other weekend somewhere. He is retired military and he just wants to wake up and go fishing god dammit lol.

and she went on this rant ab out how he doesn't ever want to go with him anymore anywhere and how it's so bad that he didn't ant to go out of the country for their anny... lol he was basically like "look, you can do whatever you want, but i'm not going and if you conceive that to mean i dont' care about you well then, oh well. i'm still not going. I just don't fvcking want to. I'm sick and tired of giong places every other weekend I just want to sit home"

and i'll be damned if he didn't break it off with her. I couldn't help but chuckle. no wonder i liked him so much.

the article says the guy was a freelance photog for SI and ESPN so he's obviously a big sports fan being that is/was part of his career.

So to me, what that means is the dumb b!tch is purposely trying to force him into a beta position knowing that he has to 'stand down' like an obediant dog wanting to eat that doggy snack that is sitting in front of him like 2 feet away in front of his nose yet won't. The owner is 'training' him to be obedient. I give it a 4 years tops.

Also, note the title of the article: "Why I'm making my husband miss the Super Bowl." Not "Why I asked my husband to miss the Super Bowl." So entitled.

I was talking to a middle aged guy at work about the weekend and I how I'd spent all day Sunday watching football, as had he. He said something like "I know football is a male sin, but I like it." That's the kind of default self-shaming attitude men have these days. I just rolled my eyes. Male sin? How is it worse than the Oscars or any other TV show for that matter? It's entertainment. My wife knew when she married me that I like football and watch a certain amount of it during the season. She got on board.
What's really sinful is some coochie sitting on the couch all day watching Dr.Phil and Oprah! :D

Even if she insists on celebrating it on the actual date, I dont get why they could not have done brunch or lunch together or just had a giant f*ck fest after the game.

And as was said before, this is more than a guy who is a fan - this guy works in the industry. What would have happen if SI had asked him to cover the game?

Because she has control issues. Hell, they could have turned this into a romantic weekend getaway to celebrate the anniversary - maybe a stay at a bed and breakfast, a romantic dinner Saturday night, something to do during the day on Sunday, then Sunday night he could watch the game in their hotel suite or at a hotel bar. There's 20.5 hours during the day Sunday when the game is not on to celebrate.

I'm kinda torn on this one..

On the one hand, I couldn't give a **** about hand egg. Even if it's the biggest game of hand egg in the world.

On the other hand, why does she HAVE to celebrate precisely to the hour, 365 days after she was married? Next day, previous day, have it at a different time, what's the difference?

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.
