Why don't they have Psychology or Social Dynamics academics in High School?

Serious thread is serious.

Surely it would teach kids how to interact with one another on a more natural level, less bullying and discrimination, preparing them for the real world (jobs, self improvement and college). If you can study religious education and history, why can't you study psychology or how you interact with your fellow student peers on a more advanced level understanding?

Maybe, they're teaching this sooner in High Schools, but in my High School, we never had this. Aswell as there being some cons that I can't think of right now, and I'm sure somebody will call me out on them, the pros are potentially building better people for our future generations.

A very farfetched idea, but could it possibly prevent Colombine type mass murders, bullying, rapes, emoism (lol) and any other introverted type negativity which calves the way for the people who commit said crimes and are victims. Ofcourse, there will always be social groups and scenes, which will have a negative impact on some people but was just a thought?

The negativity from the media through music, movies and magazines are the major causes of the above you mentioned. The true cause is our human nature, our sinful nature. If you change your heart and I change my heart, it will change the world for the good.

Anything extrinsic, if it be government intervention or in this case public education to change the effects or the results of the human heart it will end up in senseless waste of resources of money and human effort. It will also give energy to more events and situations in the future that we don't want.

The cynic in me says that this would get nowhere and nothing will change anyways, even though it sounds like a good idea.

It's bandaide solution at best. To affect any real change, you would have to address the childs home life. If the child is being raised in a crappy environment and is acting out destructively because of it, a 1hr class on social dynamics isn't going to change that.

I'm taking sociology in high school right now.

The circulium is actually pretty solid where I live. Nothing is stated as a fact. It's the scientific part is the only thing that is taught, the schools own perspective of good and wrong is kept out.

There is an important distinction that needs to be made here, and that is that these social problems are men's alone.

A woman with advanced aspergers or social anxiety will still be hit on and have options. She will still have a social life. If your a woman, the social game is just handed to you. Women dominate and control the social/dating scene up until their mid 30's.

Men are the ones who need something like this.

However, sociology courses wouldn't work. You know what I think they should do? Start training and hiring PUA's/Tom Leykis type men and put them in every high school in America.

The "Man" course would be required for every boy in high school. One semester each year. Maybe start with the basic (body language) freshman year, then RSD sophmore year, then advanced mystery pua techniques junior year, then a Tom Leykis-esque success and amibition oriented/not taking women's crap course for senior year.

Again, women don't need this and don't deserve it. Feminism has already done the work for them. A woman could be the worst type of b*tch, conceited, whorish, materialistic, anti-social, dramatic cvnt and still have plenty of guys lined up. Men are the ones that need help.

This is mostly, but not necessarily true.

You can't make people see the light in a school class! Most of them prolly dont even want to! The values that are taught here, you would NEVER get away with teaching them in school. Half of the people would actively resist it, and parents would probably brand it as "satanist" (or whatever floats their boat, haha!).

These things are out there for yourself to discover. Why serve it on a silver plate to those who don't want to learn?

There were psychology and advanced placement psychology classes in my high school when I was growing up. I never took the classes but I highly doubt the classes affected their behavior, reduced bullying or discrimination. People change behaviors by learning from experiences; it is experiences, not knowledge, which literally rewires the neurological pathways of the brain. I have high respect for cognitive psychology, for instance, but cognitive psychology has limited practical applicability, and behavioral psychology is best reserved for therapy counseling.

I believe a good discipline is philosophy in context of the philosophy of reason and science (e.g. David Hume). I have been watching a videotaped semesters of philosophy courses at Harvard and Yale universities (thanks to academicearth.org) and it has been quite invigorating thinking in philosophical terms. But I must express skepticism that learning philosophy of reason would help idiots.

It is just like not having financial education in high school or college. Yes, they teach you some basics and how to make money for other people, but they don't teach you how to make money yourself. The curriculum is not there to empower people.

They had all that in grade school when you were integrated with the entire class and MADE to get along.

If you didn't get it then I think that forcing it in your teen years is pointless. Enjoy the friends you do have.

I don't know what kind of high school experience you had, but mine was a warzone. I was an outsider even among the outsiders. I had to drop out because I was publically humiliated, while the punk that did it only got a slap on the wrist. I don't think a few classes in physcology was going to prevent that.
