As far as I've been reading here, it's the concept of alphamale-ness I'm just not clear with. As much as possible, sure, you should be in control of your life, not take crap from anyone, try to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve, be social, etc. But apart from that, I don't see how I should be concerned with trying to dominate. I do want to win though. I am, as it is, average, in terms of size or height. Is there really anything I can do about that (aside from going to the gym of course)? In animals, there can really only be one alpha male per group isn't it? Perhaps it's not that one position in the group that I want. I do want to imitate all the things he does right.

Everyone dies in the end. Just get a girl and do your thing. The alpha, beta is nothing more than ego words.

Exactly, what is ALpha anyway? Wikipedia defines it as

"In social animals, the alpha male or alpha female is the individual in the community whom the others follow and defer to. Where one male and one female fulfill this role, they are referred to as the alpha pair."

This doesn't really apply nowadays as we don't live in groups like cavemen or monkeys. I think the term "Alpha" in terms of PU is slightly ambiguous, but as far as I can see, it just means confident and good with women....anyone can be that...but at the end of the day its just a made up term, not some set of generic characteristics that few of us are blessed with. I wouldn't get hung up on being genetically 'alpha', whatever that means...I'll take successful with women 'alpha' any day.

Its not simply attributed to 'Women'.

an alpha male is a simple word to describe:
a man who is centered in his world.
A man who does not suplicate or seek approval from others for his actions.
A man who is not afraid to make steps in the world or not agree with others actions.
A man who as the ability to lead and follow.
A man who can think and make his own mind and judgement up about situations where others simply follow.
A man who makes and defines his own luck.
A man who goes out and gets what he wants
A man who sees hardships in life as a challange to conquer
A man who understands life can be rewarding and seeks to achieve that goal.
a man who blames his failures where the faults lie, including himself in that has the opportunity to grow from his faults.
A man who is not afraid to take responsibility for his actions.
a man who does not Fit for the sake of fitting in when the ideals do not suit his ideals on the world.
E.T.C

A beta to me is:
A sheep who simply follows the flock and stays and tows the line for the sake of comfort and blames all lifes failures on external sources and never looks at himself to correct any shortfalls, instead its always some-one elses fault.

I.E it maybe a word.
But still one can derive alot from that word.

and from my experiance.

there are Tons of BETA men out there who simply confirm and fit in and few ALPHAS, but i never see a successful BETA only in a marrige and thats simply due to him accepting his place as the 2nd run of the ladder with the partner as the leader.

here are a few more examples:

You don't need to be famous to be an alpha male, that's just a ridiculous theory. You need to respect yourself, be confident, and a leader, however I'll agree with you that most guys that we think are alpha are just posers.

Many 'celebrities' are looking for a warmth that the spotlight can't provide. They get on a stage for the attention and to prove something. Is that 'alpha'? Compared to those who want the same things but lack the courage and drive to make it happen, I guess. But many of these celebs can't keep a relationship because their inherent AFCness quickly becomes apparent.

Piggy, you clearly didn't see Leo Sayer on UKs Big Brother. He may appear confident onstage (like your other flawed example Robbie Williams) but he soon managed to erode any respect he may have earned by acting like a whiny insecure tantrum-throwing baby until he stormed off the show because they wouldn't give him any underpants.

No, wrong, incorrect, doesn't not comput.

No difference between TC and MJ? You've lost all cred. Tom Cruise is a short lunatic, Micheal Jordan is a legendary basketball player. So what if they are both famous? They are not famous for the same reasons. Everyone that I know, are actually disgusted by TC. Osama is famous, do you think he gets laid all the time?

Fame isn't everything. Like I said there are plenty of millionaires that no one has heard of, yet these guys get laid like kings.
Both are worshipped celebrities, it doesn't make a damn difference. You really think Michael Jordan was that special of a person behind the whole Nike "I wanna Be Like Mike" role model facade?

How anyone can confuse Micheal Jordan, a 6'6" athletic black guy, with Tom Cruise, a 5'5" skinny white guy, is way beyond me.

On the subject of Michael Jordan, like other sports stars his worshippers are overwhelmingly other males. Women could give a **** about sports or the people that excel at them, unless they are otherwise really cute. And being freakishly tall is not a quality most women want in a man.

You my friend, are clueless...

Being a celebrity has absolutely nothing to do with being an alpha male..
I second this notion. The op hasn't done his homework.:nono:

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

The men listed in the original posts are not Alpha Males; they're celebrities.

Also; just a side note - does not "comput" correction: "compute"

Maybe it was a typo or maybe it was just a word you didn't know how to spell; either way - the proper spelling has been provided.
