There's at least three ways to refer to a girlfriend of the past.
1. an ex girlfriend
2. a former girlfriend
and the phrase that you used over five times in your posting
3. my ex

Any man with experience would never invest time (other than physical) with a gal that used the phrase "my ex". And I also can't imagine any woman tolerating the phrase "my ex" for long (at least the self-respecting ones).

I'm one of the few forum members that really appreciates dogs (seems weird that so many forum members are either apathetic or anti-dog) . Anyway, when it's about pets, I'd ordinarily side with you, but your 'concern' seems sketch to me. Your over-use of the phraseology (re; my ex) is one questionable thing, and in addition .... after two years, the ex's friends still remain on your social media? It's starting to sound like it isn't your girlfriend that is "insecure."

On the chance that you're being legitimate.... here's your solution:
Your girlfriend doesn't like it when you see the ex to pick up the dog? Here's what you do --- You arrange to have your current girlfriend meet with the ex's current boyfriend to pick up and drop off the dog. You are secure enough to handle that. .... Right?

maybe I did overuse the term ‘’my ex’ just for simplicity sakes but I can assure anyone on here that I am secure and well over her. I would never go back and I’m glad it’s done.

I’d be more than secure enough for my current girlfriend to pick up the dog my ex partners boyfriend sure. Do I think my girlfriend would do that? Absolutely not

my girlfriend just wants me to have the dog to myself and basically rip the dog away from ex so we never have interaction again. Her words ‘ I’m holding onto something with her but continuing to share the dog’. Irony is my girlfriend has just bought her own dog

Yes I believe there would be more issues down the road.
An example was when my best friends wife asked me if she could come over to my house for 45minuted to kill time (with her own kids) as one of them was at a school play and it would have saved her having to all the way across town to come all the way back. I reside next to the school where the play was commencing.

I told my girl that my best friends wife is coming over with her children just to kill time and given them fact that I was best man at this wedding I don’t see it as a problem. A random girl would have been an issue.

anyway my girl kicked off becauseshe doesn’t think another woman she Be in the house without her.

I tried to reassure my girl but because she lives 90 miles away I guess it made her sacred and worried. We argued about it and I felt embarrassed.

I can imagine your current gf's frustration.

At some point you must cut the cord and move the feck on. Anything thats not a child shouldn't be a reason to keep in touch with an ex. Huge redflag from your side.

And yes, dogs are more loyal than women, so I understand your love for the dog. But on the other hand it cannot sabotage your dating life, and it doesn't take Freud to understand this will cause tension with your current partner.

You gotta man up and make a decision. Either you buy/get the dog, or she gets it.

Personally I would never make a woman in your situation ( keeps seeing an ex for whatever reason, even kids) more then a plate. Count your blessing, because your gf at least gives you space to deal with this like a grown up (for now...)

To be fair, some people don't like dogs and that's their right. I like them as a non dog-owner (I get along with almost all of them now, be they a gf's dog, friend's dog, family member's dog, stranger's dog), but I didn't always when I was younger. For all of their benefits, they are intrusive animals, due to an expansive definition of what comprises their "space".

I like dogs and animals in general but you can’t treat them as human beings. That’s just childish. You don’t have “custody” of your dog. It’s property and you own it. Whoever paid for that dog is the owner and gets to keep it.

As an aside, this whole “let’s pretend dogs are children” thing is such a first word problem. Go to any non-western country and tell someone you’re sharing custody of a dog with your ex and I guarantee that they would look at you like you had a picture of a pen!s tattooed on your forehead.

I had the best dog for 10 years, GSD, I took him at 2 months old. I put him down last year due to old age he couldn't walk. I was down for a week, then I realized its just an animal, he can be replaced.

In the country my parents are from there are stray dogs everywhere because a lot of people don't care about their animals and just let them roam the streets or abandon them. The west definitely gets some things right.

Back in 2016 I had a down to earth girlfriend and she bought a 8 week old fullblooded Rottweiler male boy pup from a local breeder. The pup lived in my home till he was 6 months old and then she took him to her place. I disciplined him on ready commands and he turned out to be a solid disciple. I got him very cool n intimidating collar and leash and I used to take him on long strolls as a pup in downtown and girls would flock him.

I still kept seeing my boy on occasions.
In 2019 my girlfriend relocated the dog to an acquaintance of hers who owned a junk lot with broken down cars. She couldn’t keep him at her new place. We had some problems during that time and I didn’t know she had done that move. She still kept an eye out for him.

long story short she passed away soon after and during the months that followed I kept dreaming about the dog tied up with chain to a dog house. I literally dreamed about him like 5 times until I said fvck it. I hit up my boy who is a cop in Mexico and we went packin to retrieve the dog on some John Wick sh1t.

The lot was in a gutter neighbor literally a couple hundred feet away from the US/Mexico border fence.
I jumped a big ass wall and I can see my boy chained up to a sh1tty dog house in deplorable conditions. exactly like in my dream.
I yelled out his name and once he seen me he started yelping and crying. My boy quickly recognize me after a year or more of not seeing me.
I unchained him and escorted him out.

My cop friend was just watching my 6 holding guard.

Ever since my dog has been with me he has been a solid loyal companion for 3 years now after I rescued him.

My girlfriend RIP left me this legacy.
On the drive home that day after I got him I cracked a tear because that’s what she wanted me to go do.
I feel like she knew what she was doing when she bought the pup if you catch my drift.

that motherfvcker owner of the lot wasn’t there that day I trespassed to get my dog.
If he would have been there I would have pistol whipped that fool on sight for having my boy in that condition when he could have reached me to get the dog.
