There are too many variables to tell you exactly why.
Could be that they just moved to town and don't know anyone. The best example of this is College Freshman girls during the first couple of weeks of school.

C. Need an ego boost

F. She just broke up with her boyfriend and is looking for someone to lean on
G. Life creates a million reasons, those are some main one but there are a million more....
The real question is why do you care? You got it. Use it.

They may have an occupation that involves their number being out there anyway, so one more person knowing is nothing, and may even be good for business.
They may be attention wh0res and just love guys calling/texting them to feel valuable.
Think about it, it's just your phone, the whole world can know it for all it really matters.
