I think that in the majority of cases, it's not really the female's purity they're trying to protect...I think it's more a way for them to prove their "strength" by trying to act badass and protective. But underneath this false facade they're just little guys.

The point I am trying to make is that unnecessarily stepping into ANY situation is stupid and immature. Being "overprotective" is an example of this, like a brother who threatens (but never does) to "kick his (the bf's) ass" constantly. This kind of overprotective brother usually steps back to his place after he realizes that someone like me will truly beat the sh*t out of him.

At a certain age, a girl should be able to make her own decisions. Hopefully, she'll be mature and intelligent enough to make the right ones.

It's not as if the girl, yes, even if she is your sister, is some innocent little virgin who is being taken "advantage" of. She is getting pleasure out of it too, and if she's not being forced into a situation like this, she can't be considered all good while the guy is considered all bad.

I have a younger sister who is going to be dating soon. I know that if she was ever in a situation that would cause harm to her, I would, without hesitation, step in and do ANYTHING necessary to take care of the problem. Would I attempt to intimidate her bf? Of course not. But would he know that I'd be there to kick his ass if there was any sort of issue? Absolutely. There's a difference between taking responsibility for your family and acting like a jackass.

Maybe some what hypocritical but really their hearts are in the right place. It's hard to fault anybody for protecting their own even if they despense the same atrocities on someone else. I do however have high expectations for her and I let her know this all the time. I tell her to watch her back, and not to put up with guys who waste her time and treat her like shyt. Any time I see a guy trying to run game on her, I let her know, and she's very privy to the games men play - even the coy games of a Don Juan or PUA.
