I know where I am.

Just a little post, cos I think its stupid how people work their asses off, never take control of their lives, go to a home and die.

What is your meaning of life?

What you gonna do or not do with it?

And will you stick to it?

As I said, I just pity the stupid in-duh-viduals of this world:rolleyes:

I personally interpret it to say "Its your life, live it how you want because we do not have eternity."

The "real" meaning, I suppose, is about a belief in fate...it comes from the Bible. More specifically the Epicureans (sp?).

I tend to look at it my way :p

^^^^ that isn't really what I meant this post to be about. Give it a second to think about what your going to do with your life that will make it happy when your over, and why. WHy do you want to use up your life on the military? You might have a perfectly good reason, but how can you be sure that it wont be time that could have been better spent? And thats a serious question what the time we're talking about is all the time you've got.

Why do I want to be in the military?

Let's see.

I've wanted to be a soldier since I was about six years old. Military life is perfect for me. The discipline, the work ethic, and more importantly the job. Doing dangerous things in foreign countries sounds like a good time to me. Most of all though, I really, really love my country. I'd like to make it as much of a career as I can, and when/if I get out, I would probably go into executive protection work for DynCorp or Blackwater or something along those lines.

By the way, I graduated from high school two years ago.

There is no meaning to my life. I just live to live. The only meaning your life can have is the one you give it or decided to accept.

I hate to bring some doom and gloom into your life, but aren't you just existing? When your all old and frail, will you look back and say "I'm so happy I existed!". How are you gonna make sure you dont have any regrets? I know you can "live for the moment" and stuff, but surely there is something you love to do that you will feel happy giving your life too. Because that's really it.

Torn Victor is a prime example of this. He love's his country, and he wants to use his time in the armed forces. He will explain to you, I'm sure, that this is not just for fun, or survival, but because, at the end of his days, he will be able to look back and say- "I did something I loved, and I have no regrets, and I had a ****ing great time doing it too!"

He will, quite literally, lay down his life for something he loves. But you can lay down your life for other things too- art, drama, traveling even accounting. Because thats what you're doing. If you spend your life doing something (which may or may not be your job) you are using up your life doing it. I can do art all my life, or I can die keeping art alive in a second. Both amount to the same thing. Using my life doing something i love. And at the end, I'll have no regrets in either scenario.

What are you going to do, you "live for the moment"ers? When its all over, will you have devoted your life to parties and sex? In my opinion, the DJ attitude means "living for yourself", not for the moment. And as we all mature to realise, girls and parties aren't the tip of the ice-berg.

I know this is a pretty far off thread for most of you guys (this is the HS forum, lets not forget:D ) but realise that a lot of you guys might want to devote your life to raising a family. Hey! Lots of people do it! Doesn't make it any less of a worthy cause.

I'm just saying that going to parties, macking with the ladies, and improving yourself should be done because you want to. And we guess you do, thats the reason you're here, reading this post. But really, the stuff here isn't rocket science.

Lol, think about it!--- I'm skinny! Weightlift and eat more. I suck with girls! Read this post you dumb AFC. I'm afraid of cold pick ups! Grab your balls, *****. Its not that hard! This is what I've realised. I've realised this board lets people know they can controll their own lives. We are all born different, some seemingly worse off than others- but we can all achive whatever we set our minds to. We are told this as children (probably...), but in adolescence, some seem to forget.

Some fall behind, accepting that we will never be as good at X as "Joe" is. We will never be as good looking as "dave". Well **** that! You can rule at everything, you might not, but you can! And you can only do that if you realise you can, you have the courage and determination to see it through, you stop judgeing yourself by other people's standards, and you know what you are doing! (And I doubt its an accident that those who succeed have typicaly male (testosteronised) atributes- determination, bravery, agression (in going after something they love) and competitiveness (Is that a word? And by that I mean wanting to be as good as they can be, and through this wanting to be the best- its not a question of beating other people, but fulfilling the expectations you have of yourself. There's a difference in winning to be better than others, and winning to be better.))

Those that are great with women never hear of this site. Those who are so flacid accept their state and "exist" through life- never finding this site. Those that are willing to put in some determination do, and these people become the happiest in the world.

Because they control their life. They live it by their rules, to do what they want. Not by a philosophy, and not by what is easiest, or what someone wants them to do.

So again I ask you, what do you want to do?

Ps. Hugh G. rection, I am begining to dislike you. Before I'd completed the bible I'd understood that the object was not to get girls, but -not to need them-. Grasp this concept sunshine, and unless you are seriously concidering using up your life pleasuring women (as if they deserved it...) then please dont post something so damn AFC, so damn fake-pimp, and so damn un-DJ again.

argh! I hate it when people avoid the subject (sorry if sI say some thing wierd I'm pretty much off my face)- but dont youvthink that if their is a life after death then that would be a pretty important thing? I mean, its what hapens to you for the rest of eternity! In my opinion if its not a huge amount of hassle it deserves a bit of thought.

But then its different for me, I actually enjoy thinking about philosophy nad stuff like this, and its taken me my time as an AFC to work out inm my mind a philosophical (as in god and ****) idea that works for me. I'm not gonna say it'll be impossible to change what i think, but I llike having a state of mind where things make sence. Just to let you know I dont believe in god or an afterlife.

And its liberating. How can you work out what is of value to you in life if you have no system of values? I know a lot will disagree with me, but I dont believe in free will, morality or an afterlife, or a god. I dont want this to turn into another religion debate, but I'm just saying it's cleared my mind and given me focus to at least have an idea of what I believe in.

I think the best thing to do is NOT think about it. No reason to think about it anyway. Why am I alive? Will people remember me? Is there life after death? All questions that I can't answer so I force myself not to think about. It's like thinking about your past you can't change it so don't worry about it.
I submit you can answer them. People answer them all the time. Its called having faith, not *****-footing it around the subject. Religios people make a leap of faith and believe in their chosen truth. I, as an atheist, have made my leep from stupid fence sitting to having a view.

Its this that I might be getting at. In the same way that sitting on the fance about big issues is AFC, not commiting your life to something you love becaus ethere's a chance you might end up hurt is AFC. Its just a question, as is most things, of grabbing your balls and LIVING! You can make decisions (actually you cnat, but the illusion is so convincing the effect your inability has is nill) so why not make them? Maybe you wont end up saying "I'm proud I served in the military" or "I'm proud I became an actor" but maybe, just maybe you'll be able to say "I'm proud I had the guts to make decisions" and "I'm proud I was the one in control of my life".

Just something to thinkabout.

Oh and sorry guys, the keyboard is kinda blurry. ****, I do love my beer, but its soooo bad to me!

I'm going to be a rock star, or at least in have some kind of fame, if i got this then that would make my life worthwhile, so im working my fvcking ass off to get there, sometimes i practice on my guitar like 5 hours a day, i've seen too many people let their dreams fade away, i'm not about to let that happen.

but aren't you doing that out of want for fame and recognition? Not out of a love of playing? Maybe you do love to play, but its a sad fact of life that a lot of our generation only want fame, not careing how they're going to achive it. You become famous through your love and determination of something, not because you want to.

Again, sorry to put a damper on your ambition, but maybe this'll help you redefine what you want, what means something to you, and where you want to be.

ahh but you see, when i say fame i just mean get some money from playing guiyat so i can play guitar all the time, i don't want to become Tommy Lee or anyone (although i wouldn't mind), i just want get some recognition as a musician, i want to spend hours in a studio writing songs, i want to go on tour around the world, i want to hear my own songs on the radio, if i were to get number 1's (which i doubt very much), that would be great, but thats not the reason i want to be a recognised musician.
