allright, so i've been doing a lot more approaches lately, and i've found that from the first minute of talking to a girl, i can tell if i have a good chance with her or not: the receptive ones laugh, joke around, and talk a lot. My problem is what to do with the girls that aren't biting at all, weither it's because they don't like your appearance or are in a bad mood etc... Normally i just end the conversation quickly and leave, but what can I do to turn their moods around or if i'm sure they aren't liking me, to exit gracefully ?

I wouldn't bother trying to turn their moods around. It's just not worth the effort. I usually say something like "Well I'm going to go find my friends, I'll catch up with you later." That's all. And a lot of times, if I see her again later on, she's a lot more friendly because it's almost as if she already knows you.

Nah, seriously dude, if they don't like the way you look, in a really bad mood, or are beeyotches, then there's nothing you can do. You wouldn't want to sit and talk with them anyways. I think if a woman isn't nice and receptive in the first few minutes, i can't think of anything that will make her so as the conversation continues. You can try and charm her as you go, and increase her interest level - i've seen that happen before.
If you really have the gift of making people laugh and smile, bust that out quickly. Maybe have a stock line that makes them laugh if they aren't being too receptive to your advances.
And maybe just a, "Hey, it was nice meeting you, i've got to run." That always works.
Or, "God, you're being a b*tch! I'm outta here..." haha

First off, I have also tried to change my approach of late and have gotten into situations talking to girls, but since I'm a loser, I am still a lonely goy with no bait, so the chances of women even biting is slim to none.
Back toyou, when they are not biting, try to work out, watch movies, read or don't do anything, it's worked for me and look at me, I'm a 25-year old masturbator with no chance of ever getting laid again.

there could be a hundred reasons why they aren't biting. I usually only approach when the signals are there...that cuts down on rejection.
