When did you notice you physically change cause of your age?

Rust wears faster than exertion.

And let us remember, the golden age of achievement and earning power for men is from 40-60. When we are younger, we waste our energies in fruitless pursuits and don't really know what we're doing.

My aim is to beat the hell out of the "age-adjusted wealth curve for men".

The only differences I have are the need to restrict calories due to stubborn retention of fat and also an additional day of recovery from exercising. I'm still lifting twice a week and running three times. I keep my calories at 1700 a day regardless of exercise level.

I was in my early 30s when I started to feel it. Injuries take longer to heal, digestion as mentioned above, eyesight, hairloss & greying, more skin problems. Not big problems but noticeable.

So at least for me, starting in my early 30s.

I'm around 190 at 5'8" and can still comfortably wear 32" jeans if there's enough quad and hip room. This is the biggest I've ever been... I just turned 29. My peak aesthetic condition was when I was 25. I know I'll look better than that when I start my pre-contest dieting next year.

Its not really fair to ask me this question as I am chemically enhanced, but over time I find it tougher to maintain leanness and have abdominal definition as I age. At 25 I was able to maintain a 6 pack with relatively clean eating and training 3-4 days a week with weights. I didn't have to do any cardio or worry about binge eating.

I also tend to have more nagging injuries. Wrist, shoulders, lower back, etc... nothing major, but just more aches and pains that I have to contend with. I've been limiting my heavy lifting as I am bodybuilding now rather than working on power/explosive stuff. I think its gonna help my joints in the long run.

Havent read any of the replies.

Mate at 40 I get told I look late 20's sometimes...and I am a smoker and a drinker (granted I am trying to cut one out and cut right down on the other).

A man can look really really fvcking good right up to his late 60's even.
look at roger Moore for instance...bit past it now (he must be near or early 80's) but the dude looked good as James Bond and he must have been well into his 50's by then.

Keep working out, follow a reasonable diet, and there is no reason you can not look good while women the same age as you look 20+ years older.

Have now read the replies - and as expected they are right on the money.

Definitely agree with one poster that says alcohol hits him a lot harder now than when young. Tell me about it. Takes me a good 3 days to recover from a bender these days- really is a waste.

At 32, I have to say that energy wise, I feel about the same as when I was 22. However, it all comes down to how active I stay.

35, just had shoulder surgery, and two years prior back surgery...

I can definitely tell I don't bounce back like I use to.

but I eat better now, exercise more now then I did in my twenties, all in all I look and feel pretty good..

but the aches definitely last longer and the weight gets harder to take off..

but compared to some other 35 year olds.. I am doing really good.

So it sounds like most people noticed that their metabolism has slowed down in their 30's. Also drinking seems to hit harder....

35 and 36 seem to be ages people have mentioned as noticing they don't heal as fast...

Here's another question.... how is your sex drive? Have you noticed it gone down a little? This is something I else I hear fades with age..

As long as you work out sex drive stays fine..

work those big leg muscles and you will have plenty of drive..

Until I was about 30, I could eat and drink whatever and my waist stayed about 29 "
Every year after that, my waist size seemed to creep up an inch.
Now I need to work out like a madman and watch my diet ( I don't drink ) to maintain a 32" waist.
As you get older, you learn more about your body..."If I eat this, in exactly 45 minutes I'll have terrible diereha"...
Sex...that's what you want to know about right ?
I'm very active....The only thing that seems to have slipped with age are those erections which are so strong, you feel you will blow a gasket if you don't get relief soon (I've never tried the blue pill or cialis, so I don't know if those things will cause the erections I'm talking about).
The good news is control...I last so much longer than before...Like I said, w/ age you learn to read your body more and more......
Judging by my success rate, I think I'm better looking now than I was in my late 20's and 30's. The face does go through certain changes through age... not just w/ wrinkles.
Finally, What I have learned in my 40's is that you no longer put off things you want to do, because there is more of an urgency to enjoying life in the last stages of "youth".

Thanx for the info Rubirosa. So yes definitely the eating/metabolism slows down around 30, I can vouch for this. So since you don't have those erections that feel like they are going to blow a hole in your jeans... do you still get aroused frequently but just don't get as hard? Is sex still pleasureable? Has masturbation decreased?

I still get full, hard erections, I just seemed to remember that I used to have them be so strong...the need to release so great, that that they seemed to take over my mind and I literally could not concentrate on anything. I still get aroused frequently....Of course sex is pleasurable, but now it seems to be more for enjoyment as opposed to a remedy for blue b###s. I currently have 4 chicks that think they're my girlfriend...The last thing I need to do right now is masturbate.

Get a scale that measures body fat % (I use a Tanita). It tells your metabolic age. The key is to stay hydrated. When I am 55.5% water (17% fat) it reports my age as 24. When I am 49.8% water (22.7% fat) it reports my age as 48. The sum of water and fat remains largely constant.

When you move into your 30s. Look at most pro athletes. Things start to hurt more, recovery takes longer, etc. But some things you can keep close to the same such as your speed and strength.

In my case, I worked out a lot more since mid 30s than my 20s. So in some ways I'm stronger and more capable. But my "youthful wellness" is not what it used to be.

Ah...a lot. I spent 8 years of my life at war with someone or other. It got harder...not in the gym - I could still life the same, but in theatre. I couldn't do the distance in the time required. The distance itself in some cases became too much. I knew I was past my prime - that seemed to happen to people in my regiment. I promised myself long ago I wasn't going to sit behind a desk sending someone else to die...so I left. Sometimes you have to accept change. I can be the making of you.

I'm not as fit as I used to be. But then few people are. I'm still in cracking shape, but I accept my limitations. I also look back on my 'prime' with pride. I did a hell of a lot of cool stuff and I was too stupid to know any better. Which is a good job or I wouldn't have done half of it.

Relax. We get old. We die. Game over. So make sure you play the game as well as you can. You get one shot and you might as well enjoy it.
