how is not masturbating going to help exactly?
This is how: http://yourbrainonporn.com/

The human brain is very susceptible to hormones and drugs. Any imbalance causes some kind of change, good or bad.

if I go more than 3 days without masturbating, sex would be the only thing I could think about, I can't focus on anything else, so it is bad for me, and my job :p
And this is a problem how? Quit spanking the monkey and **** your girlfriend till she can't walk straight. If everyone did the same we would have far less relationship "problems". There would still be some but... you get what I'm saying.

Thanks for the link; plenty of good info there. The following paragraph especially resonated with me:

Due to a search engine coincidence, I have been listening to the agonies and ecstasies of recovering porn addicts for several years. Over and over, a common pattern appears: As users manage to abstain from porn and cut way back on masturbation, their desire to connect with others surges. So does their confidence, their ability to look others in the eye, their sense of humor, their perception of their "manliness," their concentration, their optimism, their judgment, their attractiveness to potential mates, and so forth. Even those formerly suffering from severe social anxiety are more often than not emboldened to explore new avenues for social contact: smiling and joking with work colleagues, online dating, meditation groups, nightspots, and so forth. In some cases it takes months, but often the shift is so rapid that it catches them by surprise. (I'm not implying that social anxiety is solely due to porn use, or that extroversion is a sign of its absence. I'm merely wondering whether, for some, more careful management of sexual desire might be surprisingly beneficial.)

Kidding yourself if you think that looking at porn and masturbating have no effect on your game.

Give it up (porn permanently, MB once a week max) and see what happens.

Chances are, you will have way more energy and will find it much easier to pick up chicks.

Not saying I've kicked it completely, but it seems like every time I don't look at porn and go for 4 or more days without stroking the sabre, I end up picking up a chick.

Sure, if you have some hang up about never being with any chick apart from a HB9, then MB'ing and looking at porn will help you with that, since you will be happily insulated in your world of a dark room, youporn, unlimited downloads and your hand.

Otherwise, if you actually want to have s!x with real chicks (not your hand) and are willing to run the risk of hooking up with occasional fattie or chick who is less than HB9, then give it up as much as you can.

Masturbating's great, it gets such a bad rep on this website. I find it really helps getting over bugs and illnesses too for some reason.

Don't deny yourself from it altogether, just do it less and embrace sexual frustration more often.

Also people affiliate masturbation with reclusiveness/depression/procrastination too much, yes a lot of people add to the problem with wanking but then stop wanking and don't find much resolve. Or they stop wanking and because of that they get into a good roll they stop procrastinating too(for example) - but then they wrongly deem masturbation the problem when actually it wasn't, it's just that when they stopped doing it they simultaneously became more active in combating their other problems.
Sure if it works out ok then you could argue whats the point in defending masturbation, but what happens is you directly make masturbation a bad thing so it could also act as a catalyst for a downward spiral 'relapse' in a worst case scenario. And in a normal case scenario you just deny yourself a wank when in all actuality, you can easily make time for masturbation and be doing well in other aspects of life.

It's so nice to have an expert on the effects of male masterbation on the forum.

I dunno brah, but I masturbate at least once a day, sometimes twice a day. Doesn't matter if I'm slaying some ***** later at night, got a gf, or in a dry spell. I'm not addicted to it or anything, I can go days and maybe two weeks without masturbating(I think I did 12 days once, but I ****ed a girl twice on a road trip with the bros. We were driving in one car, sharing beds, just no time or privacy to rub one out)

Do what you gotta do, I don't know if its an addiction but masturbating is perfectly healthy IMO.
Sharing beds with other horny boys? Dude, did one get off while you were sharing the sheets? You spend enough nights sharing beds with boys and things are going to happen. Next time I would suggest just finding an older man to take care of you. Probably safer and you will have nicer beds.

Personally, when I refrain from rubbing one out, I'm more attracted to the women I run into in every day life. Not only that, it also makes me feel more attractive. I walk taller, look more people in the eye and start conversations with strange females more often than I would otherwise. And I'm more smooth about it, too.

CuriousGirl wouldn't know sh1t about that.

ah yea I think I've done that, where I almost cum but stop myself, then in a few seconds choose to cum and I don't feel anything as I'm cumming and I'm like ah damn I shouldn't have came
That's called edging and it's different... you can still have an orgasm without ejaculating, they are seperate events. Orgasm relieves tension, ejaculation drains energy.

You know just because you have a penis doesn't mean you're an expert on ****, just makes you an expert on your own ****.

I was just giving my opinion on the matter, which is just as valid as yours and is just pushing on points that some people haven't considered yet. If masturbation was single-handedly that destructive then that would suggest all successful people (socially and career/otherwise) have to refrain from wanking, or that it would have this negative effect on everyone. Which obviously isn't the case. I would say in most cases its just part of a bigger problem, which is why sometimes combating it really works for people as their sense of pride or whatever in committing to self-discipline galvanises them into sorting themselves out in general, but why also in other cases it doesn't work and someone might just pick up another bad habit to replace it.
Which again is why you can sort yourself out, differentiate the real problem from the masturbation habit, and then introduce masturbation into your improved lifestyle - not as a 'bad habit' but just as something you enjoy doing when you think is right to, whether that's 5 minutes out your day every day or a 20 minute session once a fortnight. Different things work for different people. Masturbation only becomes a problem if you make it one of your problems - like most things.

Also I wanna point out I'm just talking about masturbation here, porn I'm a little more on the fence about, I think some people enjoy porn in the right way but it can equally be quite damaging. I mean, I like (decent) porn but I can really see how it can be a bad thing, not that it's affected my lifestyle badly, but in how it shapes societies views and how people who can get locked into that kind of community can manifest in a bad way. Fantasies and reality can dangerously intermingle, which for the more perverse things isn't a good thing - some of the horror stories heard on the news since the internet boom are probably directly related to the darker sides of the internet. Similar to how they say Myra Hindley and Ian Brady would have never done what they did if they hadn't met. Its surprising how people can get sucked into their own bubble or reality..or even sanity. And I think porn is more damaging that way; but I'm just unsure as to how damaging because I think it can vary quite a bit.
I mean even in the seemingly trivial of senses, I've noticed the way it's affected my views and sex life. Before I started watching porn (somewhat often, not regularly) I thought waxed/shaved pussies were weird because they just looked like a little kids vagina. But now I don't think that all and that's directly because of porn. Also I don't think I would have experimented with women either if it wasn't for porn, not because porn made me bi as I knew I had felt particular "admiration"s for particular female celebs or figures growing up (though not as strongly for particular guys) and I had kissed a girl once, but porn did open me up to actually revisiting and exploring those feelings whereas we're otherwise only encouraged to explore our feelings for the opposite sex.
Though these haven't really been negative things, or at least for myself I don't consider them to be. Maybe the pubic hair thing isn't good as part of me thinks it can't be a good thing as it's encouraging society to prefer something that isn't what we are, and you could go one step further and say it encourages a childlike preference (which is always a sensitive subject) - I'm not sure if I'd go as far to say that though. But then another part of me thinks fcuk it, it's only pubes.

So I think porn is a much trickier one. Possibly people are more vulnerable to it's unfavourable attributes.

Although funnily enough I was investigating porn as part of a social impact based art project and I looked at the top rated video of all time on one of the sites and it was called "Young couple in love". Thought that was quite funny, and a little bit endearing, haha. It was actually a pretty nice video too.

Let me guess, you're a psych major? I don't think it has anything to do with my subconscious, sweetie; pretty sure it has more to do with my semen building up and my increasing urge to release it. That's what I meant about you wouldn't understand. Thanks for responding, though.

No, I don't do psychology. But you're somewhat right in that I like to observe people.
And maybe I wasn't clear, I was talking about masturbation addiction not general masturbation. Why wouldn't I understand the urge for ejaculation? Women have exactly the same for orgasm, yeah I don't have a **** but I have a libido that increases arousal until a release is offered via orgasm. Why is that so different?

You can know that a man has an urge to ejaculate, but you will never know how it feels. I'm sure that you get horny, and I'm sure that masterbating gives you a release - as it does for men - but in a man's case, it's like he's also ejaculating a little bit of his fortitude. I can't find any conclusive evidence on masterbation and testosterone levels, but avoiding masterbation results in more aggression. It just does. It isn't like I want to inflict violence, though. It's hard to explain. Come to Florida and I'll show you.

Edit - Basically, I'm a more confident and outgoing person when I abstain. Many people feel the same.

Yeah I understand. It's odd because I think it varies for women a lot. Sometimes when I masturbate it can make me chilled and a bit away with the fairies for the day but then other times it has the opposite effect, energises me and even increases sexual frustration.

Perhaps that has something to do with multiple orgasms as it's a lot more common in women.
