What would you do if a bouncer ASSUALTED you?

I was with a couple of friends this weekend, and we were standing outside of a bar finishing our drinks getting ready to leave.

The doorman comes up to my business partner and tells him that he can't stand by the door where he is standing, that he has to move.

My biz partner complies, and as we are walking out the bouncer is talking to a chick who is sort of blocking the way. My biz partner makes a wise crack to the girl, something like "move it along....you can't stand here!", in a joking manner.

He keeps walking to leave the bar, and as he walks past the bouncer the bouncer literally SHOVES him onto the sidewalk.

I almost lost it! My biz partner was in a good mood, and simply asked the guy why he pushed him. I started getting pissed and let this ass hole know it. The girl we were with got upset as well.

I guess the owner of the bar was close by and came over and asked what was going on, and we told him that his meathead employee had just pushed a guy who was recovering from a BROKEN NECK, as he was walking AWAY, OUT of the establishment.

Since the bar owner was really cool about the whole thing I let it go, but the next day I was thinking about it and it really pissed me off.

I mean, isn't that ASSAULT?

Of course if I would have called the police the cops would have taken the bouncers word initially, but there were several witnesses as to the fact that the bouncer shoved him without provocation.

I told my biz partner that one of us probably SHOULD have called the cops and at least got it documented, because as I said he is recovering from a serious car accident where he ended up with a couple of fractures in his neck, and if this guy DID cause any damage, at least it would have been on record what happened.

I would have complained more. I would have told the bar owner to fire his fvcking a$$ for acting like a giant douche...

This happened to a good friend of mine a few weeks ago, him an his friend knocked the two bouncers out cold then we ran.

He got his sweet revenge but is now unable to visit that club any longer.

Most bouncers can't fight for ****.

HOWEVER, its good that you talked to the owner. Tht part is what I woulda done.

Word wolf? I know two guys who used to take martial arts with me who are bouncers...luckily they are cool guys and I'm friends with them.

Worked as a club promoter for 10 years and seen good bouncers and bad ones, and unless they put your guy in the hospital the police and courts ain't doing diddly.

He's not in elementary school, he is a full grown man. I would've called the cops to get it documented, even if they wouldn't do much. If the bouncer keeps having the police document stuff on him, eventually karma will take its toll.

Pushing is an assualt IF your friend would have suffered some sort of injury as a result, otherwise its your word against his.

In situation like this there is nothing you can do. *******s are everywhere, just shrug it off and laugh about it with your friends. Most bouncers I know are the friendliest people I know because they know that if they go above and beyond what is required from their job, then there is a very good chance a patron will do the same . This bouncer is obviously not very bright and by not showing the neccessary restraint or respect, he will probably not last very long.

I think that professions that involve physically exerting your authority like being a bouncer, police officer, security guard, etc usually includes a mindset that includes bullying. I am not justifying the actions but I can see how these people working these professions, experiencing people in their worst state of mind, can feel no way about shoving a guy trying to be funny. To me it seems almost inhumane to expect people working these professions, where the consensus is to hate them, to remain just or adhere to the societal norm.

As for your particular case, I think the bouncer was definitely out of line, but this case imo does not warrant a police report or assault like the thread title suggests. If a bouncer did assault me, I would press charges, plain and simple

Well there is nothing your friend could have done legally except fall on the floor acted like he had a broken neck and the paramedics would of had to come and put him on a backboard in the hospital. You would have to call the police and press charges.


It would be tough to press charges against him unless you have it on video because its his word against yours. Plus these cops are all friendly with people that have busineses in there district.

Sometimes US law protects pricks like this. Somebody could rip you off a million dollars, rape your Daughter and if you do something about it guess what? Your guilty. Your the fvcking bad guy. I even bet if your friend knocked him out he would have went to jail. One of the negatives in living in a free country.

I don't know if the police or prosecuter or whatever would charge the a-hole bouncer with assualt unless there was injuries. I think the owner could be civilly liable. He's responsible for employees actions. The bouncer sounds like an AFC cap'n save-a-ho. The owner should fire this guy.

I think you should instill fear into the cool owner, that he could be harmed in a law suit, if he doesn't fire the bouncer.

That was battery. You don't need a police report if you have witnesses. It does not matter if he had a pre-existing injury, that's called the 'thin skull rule.' It would be a profitable time for the guy to visit a doctor tomorrow, complaining of neck pain. These things can take a day or two to appear. With the witnesses, the insurance company for the bar will want to settle. Your friend can sue the guy individually, a waste of time if he's a typical broke bouncer, or better yet the bar, which will have insurance. I have no idea what amounts they are required to carry, but I bet the policies are huge. There is money to be made here - lawyer gets a third, btw.

A "Battery" requires some sort of touching and is defined under Florida law as actually and intentionally touching or striking another person against his will or intentionally causing bodily harm to another person.

Me too.

The bad thing is, my biz partner is still undergoing treatment for the car accident. The vertebrae are healing so far, but is under restrictions such as he can't lift more than 20lbs.

What if that shove caused the bones to shift, and he ends up having problems in the future?

People like this ass wipe who have this "security guard" complex need to be taught a lesson, cause the next bar patron wouldn't be so forgiving in the way they handled it. You just can't go around shoving people like that.
