I went to a wing place tonight (similar to hooters in food and uniform for servers) with a large group of guys (50+; my fraternity's recruitment event). We were gettting a ton of wings as a group, but as I am currently on a strict diet, I ordered a salad on my own tab. I am the guy in the group who tells the best stories and has everyone rolling around laughing the whole time. we had a easy HB9+ as one of our waitresses. She heavy flirted with me and generally gave me a ton of IOIs, things she didnt do for everyone else. we continued to flirt back and forth all night.

As I am about to leave, I try to get her number. It went something like this-

Me: So you go to my school?

Her: No I go to state

Me: So you probably never gone to gjfdkljf?

Her: No, but I always wanted to

Me: Well, we are having a big shindig up there in a month. Give me your number. I will give you the details

Her: My manager is right there and there are a lot of people around and we are slammed. We get in trouble if we give contact info out to customers, Plus, you might just be trying to be a show off in front of your boys. I'll tell you what, come back tues or weds next week, when its a little slower, with a friend or two. I can chat a little more and we will see where things go from there.

Me: Well I am a busy guy, you might never see me again if I go through that door. And I am not showing off. If you were to turn me down, I would lose all my street cred (wink).

Her: Haha, your trouble, but seriously, next week. Please?

She may have just been fishing for a tip, but I don't know. I wasnt the only guy to order my own stuff, and was definitely the cheapest with a little salad.

Thoughts?

Odds are she's letting you down. I say that because in her conversation telling you how her manager was standing nearby and how they're not permitted to give out contact info and how they're so busy tonight and yadda, yadda, she could've just simply rattled off her digits instead.

Also, if she can't give out her contact info because it's against policy and there's a manager's on duty, what's going to be so different about next Tuesday or Wednesday night that now makes it possible whereas the week before, it wasn't?

In situations like that, you have to think on your feet and put them between a rock and a hard place.

Me: "Oh, I have plans for next Tuesday and Wednesday night. I've got a great memory, I don't have to be obvious and write it down. What's your number?"

But her stall is answer enough.

And I'll bet that Tuesday and Wednesday nights are probably her nights off.
