While approaching or talking to women, I often think of my hands...because they aren't doing anything.
This is potentially more difficult if you don't have anything in your hands, i.e. a drink, a book, etc. Also, I'm not too much of a gesticulator and those who aren't have their hands idling at their sides.
So I usually do one of a bunch of things:
- Put my hands in my pockets casually (not have them jammed in there) However, I think this radiates insecurity, nervousness and eventually lack of confidence
- Lean on something. If a wall or something like that is around, I lean on it with my arm. This takes care of one hand. I think this is probably the best solution, because I'm not leaning forward (showing insecurity) and my hands are forced down.
- Play with my hands infront of me. I probably do this the most. I crack my knuckles over and over, but I don't like it. I'm pretty sure it communicates nervousness, which is bad.
Any suggestions on what else to do with your hands?
