Earlier in the year when I wasn't nearly as active and eating sweets/crap I was 10lbs heavier and comfortable at 68 sleeping and 70 degrees F during the day. Since then I've brought my metabolism up and I notice that now when I sleep I need it to be 64 degrees to feel comfortable and 66/67 during the day in my home (this varies according to activity sure.. but its a baseline).

I'm thinking the colder it is that your comfortable, the more calories your body is burning to keep you warm. In any case as most of my friends tell me its too cold in my place (both my male and female) I'm curious as to how this compares to others who work out regularly.

At what temperature during the day and during sleeping are you comfortable?

i am a slightly skinny person, and i usually feel comfortable at 62-64 degrees both sleeping and in my room working on stuff. i wear a jacket in my room though. i dont think body weight has too much to do with what temperature you're fine at, mostly just how you are. my school always jacks up the temperature and i hate it, makes me feel like falling asleep, even if i am just wearing a t-shirt sometimes.

I wasn't referring to body weight.. My understanding is it has to do with ones metabolism as the faster it is, the more calories you burn.. the more energy you body expends also in terms of body heat.

However one does find skinny guys usually with pretty fast metabolisms (relatively speaking) so my speculation is they would be more comfortable in a lower temp then some guys with slower metabolisms (average to fat)..

Fat people are almost always hot at room temp and like cold temps better. I think it's just like with cold water mammals, a layer of fat traps in heat.

When my matabilisim is running on high, I will be sweating at any temperature. It's like my stomach has turned into a furness. High protein and exercise is the main culprit.

I hate the heat.

I always generate alot of heat.

I have a slow metabolism though. Regardless of diet and exercise.
Right now I'm 15 lbs fatter and sedintary than my normal state of a highly conditioned endurance athlete. I notice no change.

I prefer the cold to the hot. about 62-65 *F in my house.

Women I've known who have been a bit chunky were always cold at my place even some of my guy friends who are bigger and have a larger body fat percentage then I were usually cold at my 'comfortable' temperature.

As some of the other pointed out though.. I see its more then just ones metabolism as a factor that determines ones temp comfortable zone. Interesting..

i don't know. what clothes am i wearing?

i keep my house colder and wear sweatpants and sometimes a hoodie because i'm cheap and don't want to pay for the heat that is needless since i have clothing and blankets.

this logic is lost on women though.
