Actually racial preferences have more to do with socialization, image and comfort than true attraction. To avoid genetic defects most animals are instinctively designed to seek out mates who are genetically DIFFERENT from them. This is to avoid inbreeding.

Inbred animals (and people) are more likely to have genetic defects. That's why the Asian woman and white male combo is so common. Whenever interracial dating is highly acceptable socially.. it occurs at a greater rate.
